Everyone gather around. It’s time to celebrate the 2022 Toyota RAV4. It’s this SUV’s 25th birthday in the United States. To celebrate the Toyota RAV4’s birthday, it gained interior and exterior upgrades. Plus, there is a new affordable Toyota RAV4 Hybrid SE trim. 

The 2022 Toyota RAV4 gains a refresh 

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday, 2022 Toyota RAV4. Congratulations to the RAV4 for making it in the United States for 25 years. Over time it grew in popularity to become the best-selling Toyota SUV and the best selling SUV in the U.S. 

The most recent generation was introduced in 2019, so the RAV4 still feels pretty new. However, Toyota wanted to celebrate the RAV4’s 25th anniversary. So, they introduced a new affordable Toyota RAV4 Hybrid SE trim and provided interior and exterior upgrades across the board.

What’s new for the 2022 RAV4 Hybrid? 

You can take advantage of the new 2022 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid SE trim. It’s a new hybrid model that slots below the SLE trim. The Hybrid SE is designed for customers looking for sporty performance and sporty style at a lower price point. 

Unfortunately, pricing for this model hasn’t been revealed. But Toyota says the new hybrid represents a growing segment, and expanding the hybrid offering at a base trim makes good sense for attracting more buyers at a lower price point. 

The 2021 RAV4 Hybrid LE has an MSRP of $28,500. The new model could have a lower price, and it’s expected to be released with the official EPA ratings in December. 

With the 2021 model, you get a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that’s paired with an electric motor in the front and rear and a lithium-ion battery pack. This setup generates 219 hp and gets an EPA-estimated 41 mpg in the city and up to 38 mpg on the highway. 

In the gas-powered models, the engine pumps out 203 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. The gasoline powertrain gets an EPA-estimated 28 mpg in the city and up to 35 mpg on the highway. 

To differentiate itself, the SE Hybrid includes a 7-inch touchscreen and an audio system with six speakers. It also comes with mono-tone paint and fabric-trimmed seats. 

You can opt for the Weather Package consisting of a heated steering wheel, heather leather seats, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. 

You get a new 9-inch touchscreen, a moonroof, and a height-adjustable power liftgate with the Convenience Package. 

What’s new for the rest of the 2022 RAV4 models? 

The 2022 Toyota RAV4 XSE trim gained a new Calvary Blue color with a black roof for a confident look. This new color is also available with the SE Hybrid and the TRD Off-Road trim. Plus, you can access new wheel designs. 

New LED fog lamps are available with the XLE Premium, Limited Adventure, and TRD Off-Road trims. The XSE Hybrid gained the unique verticle lights from the XSE Prime as well. 

Each trim now includes a locking glove box with LED interior lamps. The XLE and high trims got illuminated interior switches. Last but not least, the Limited trim gains an eight-way power passenger seat.
