The 2022 Toyota Sequoia Is Finally Getting a New Face
The aging Toyota Sequoia isn’t expected to have a full redesign until 2023. However, rumors suggest that the 2022 Toyota Sequoia could finally be getting a new face. Check out the updates that are on the way.
The 2022 Toyota Sequoia could sport new looks
The Toyota Sequoia that you recognize today has been around for quite some time. The current generation made its debut in 2008. But this isn’t exactly a bad thing. The aging Toyota lineup that includes the Tundra has aged pretty well.
However, rivals such as the Ford Expedition and Chevy Tahoe have been updated, so it’s time to play catch up. According to CarIndigo, the Sequoia isn’t being totally refreshed for 2022, but it could receive an updated front and rear.
The 2022 Toyota Sequoia could have an exterior design that draws on the Toyota RAV4 with thinner headlights and taillights. It could also gain a larger, more aggressive grille with LED headlights and running lights.
We wouldn’t be surprised to see a new front and rear bumper design too. The Sequoia could gain sharper lines with new wheel designs too. Then in 2023, we will hopefully see a totally refreshed model.
What to expect with the 2022 Sequoia
With a new face, the 2022 Toyota Sequoia may rise in price by about $1,500. The 2021 model starts at about $50,400. It’s expected to carry over the same engine option, which is a 5.7-liter V8 option with 381 hp and 401 lb-ft of torque.
The Sequoia could gain new engine options with the 2023 model that follows in the updated 2022 Toyota Tundra’s tracks. Also, rumors about a new hybrid powertrain have been circulating. We’ll have to keep you updated. The Sequoia is pretty thirsty. The 2021 model gets an EPA-estimated 13 mpg in the city and up to 17 mpg on the highway, so we hope the hybrid option does happen!
Currently, the Sequoia can tow up to 7,400 lbs and carry a payload of up to 1,370. These figures may not increase until 2023. These figures are pretty on par with rivals, but a little more muscle would be exciting.
Will the 2022 Sequoia have an updated interior?
Maybe. Rumors for the 2022 Toyota Sequoia suggest that it will gain the new infotainment interface known as the Human Machine Interface. It’s expected to be much faster and to provide an improved user experience.
The Sequoia comes with a 7-inch infotainment screen, but there is a possibility that larger screen sizes will be available. The new infotainment system could receive over-the-air updates and provide Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
While the Sequoia may have new exterior looks, the structure and its size are expected to remain the same. A few of the safety features may include forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, automated emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and blind-spot monitoring.
The 2022 Sequoia should make its appearance soon. It could be available for the fall of 2021. We will keep an eye out for more information to keep you updated as we learn more.
