The 2022 Toyota Tundra has been officially unveiled and you’ve seen all the features and new design upgrades everywhere. Have you noticed the cool extra Easter eggs and small details included in the new truck? There are some things that, like a Transformer, maybe more than meets the eye. Toyota has hidden a few small Easter eggs within the new Tundra, and we will point them out for you. MotorTrend originally reported finding these details with help from a Tundra designer. 2022 Toyota Tundra cool Easter eggs – Morse code

Firstly, and possibly the coolest of the bunch, there’s a morse code message hidden in plain sight on the windshield. Every 2022 Toyota Tundra regardless of trim level, has the words BADASSTRUCKS inscribed in the lower left of the windshield in Morse code. It’s the type of thing that you’d never notice seeing the truck 1,000 times, but once you know it’s there, you can never stop noticing it. MotorTrend was only able to locate this Easter egg with the help of one of the designers of the Tundra. There could be more Morse code somewhere on the truck, but we can’t find it anywhere.

The 4×4 stickers hide something

For as long as pickup trucks have been able to drive off-road, they’ve had 4×4 stickers on each side. From Toyota to Ford, you’ve seen these stickers everywhere. They aren’t too much to look at, so Toyota tried to make them cooler for the new 2022 Tundra. To find this Easter egg, you’ll have to look very closely. The 4×4 sticker is made of hologram-like material that, when reflected with light properly, displays a few trucks driving up and down the two number fours. Because proper lighting is a requirement it’s nearly impossible to see in photos. You’ll have to find a 2022 Toyota Tundra in person to see it for yourself.

2022 Toyota Tundra cool Easter eggs – From Texas to Michigan

Underneath the hood is the location of the next two mini Easter eggs. Though they have nothing to do with the engine or any other functional parts you’ll find inside. Open the hood of the 2022 Tundra and you’ll find two stamps on the black plastic panels toward the front. On the driver’s side, there is a stamp of the state of Texas with the word “Born” on top. This references the Tundra’s production location in San Antonio, Texas. The Toyota Tundra has been built there since its opening in 2006.

The passenger side stamp is Michigan-shaped and has the letters “R&D” on top of it. This one references Ann Arbor, Michigan, where the newly announced Tundra was researched and developed. These two locations being represented under the hood of the new Tundra is a nice touch. It is something owners will find interesting when they check under the hood for the first time. This particular Easter egg is definitely one of the easier ones to notice.

TRD Pro exclusive Easter egg

The 2022 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro trim is riddled with TRD logos. Exterior and interior, Toyota makes sure anyone near the vehicle knows it’s a TRD Pro. The off-road Tundra specifically has some amber lights on the front and side of the truck. These amber lights are required for trucks over 80-inches wide, a category the 2022 Tundra fits. There are three on the top of the front grille and one on each wheel arch, every amber light contains a small TRD logo inside. This is another Easter egg that is a little bit easier to find but is cool since it’s in a place most people would never look for a logo.

2022 Toyota Tundra hidden detail- the push-button tailgate

The final hidden detail is also the only one that provides any functionality. It can’t really be considered an Easter egg, but it’s something cool that may go unnoticed by a lot of people. The 2022 Toyota Tundra has a button on the driver’s side taillight that opens the tailgate. This is mainly for when your hands are full and you are unable to grab the handle properly and pull the tailgate down. This is a great extra feature for anyone who loads a lot of bags or supplies into the bed of their truck and may need that easy-to-open tailgate button. This push-button tailgate is only available on the more expensive trims, but could it start a trend with pickup trucks? We hope in the future to see other brands, as well as the other Toyota pickup trucks, steal this idea as it is rather convenient.
