The 2022 Toyota Tundra is about to be officially revealed. This is the moment that loads of pickup truck owners and lovers have been waiting for. Toyota’s teasers have kept people on edge waiting to see what’s in store for the newest pickup truck. On Sunday, September 19, 2021 at 9 p.m. the new 2022 Toyota Tundra will be unveiled. What’s new for the 2022 Toyota Tundra, and can it possibly live up to the hype that’s surrounding it?

What’s new for the 2022 Toyota Tundra?

Toyota has been teasing the public with tidbits of information and news about the 2022 Toyota Tundra for months. In July of 2021, Toyota shared a couple of small bits with consumers. These included a video showing off the new Tundra’s moonroof and rear window, which slides. It also showed some pictures of the inside of Toyota’s newest Tundra. 

Toyota will have to work hard to keep up with other truck manufacturers. In 2020, Toyota sold roughly 110,000 Tundras. Other truck manufacturers sold hundreds of thousands more pickup trucks than that. 

We won’t know exactly what else is new for the Tundra until September 19, when Toyota will reveal its newest pickup truck.

Will the 2022 Toyota Tundra have a V8?

It seems that the new Tundra will not have a V8. This is despite the fact that the 2021 Toyota Tundra currently has a V8 engine. Instead, the 2022 Toyota Tundra will have a twin-turbo V6 engine. This engine will also be 3.4-liters and be able to produce at least 400-hp. According to Car and Driver, it will also have coil springs in the rear. This will replace the leaf-spring rear suspension setup that’s currently in the 2021 Toyota Tundra. It’s also possible that the Tundra will have a six-cylinder hybrid drivetrain. 

With so many other car manufacturers offering a V8 engine, it’s anyone’s guess how people will react to not having that as an option. At the same time, many car manufacturers are moving away fro V8 engines, and it’s possible that we’ll start to see some of the other big names do away with V8s in pickup trucks sooner rather than later as well. 

How much will the 2022 Toyota Tundra cost?

There’s no official word on details about the Toyota Tundra such as how much it will cost. This information, as well as other specs surrounding the pickup, should be revealed on September 19th. 

Some details have been released, like images of the TRD Pro model. There is also some infotainment information, like Apple CarPlay and a touch screen. The Toyota Tundra should also have wireless charging. 

The new Toyota Tundra has been a long time coming. With Toyota’s teasers over the last several months about what the Tundra will look like and have under its hood, it’s no wonder that people are getting antsy. We have questions!
