The 2023 Acura Integra is one of the most highly anticipated cars in the last five years. JDM enthusiasts will say that the Integra nameplate was taken from us too soon. Acura tried to fill the void with the RSX, but it wasn’t quite the same. Now we know the Integra is coming back, and we know exactly when we’ll get to see it.

2023 Acura Integra Prototype will debut ahead of the LA Auto Show

Acura has confirmed that the 2023 Acura Integra prototype will make its world debut on November 11th, 2021, just a week ahead of the LA Auto Show. The debut will happen in a livestream scheduled to start at 5:35 pm PST / 8:35 pm EST. Astute readers may have noticed that Acura said the “prototype” would make its debut. That means the Acura Integra seen during the reveal may not be the same that eventually hits dealerships.

However, considering Honda’s recent history with the 11th generation 2022 Civic, chances are the prototype that is revealed will have 99% of what we can expect on the production version. Considering that the Acura Integra Prototype will debut in Los Angeles a week before the LA Auto Show, we think it is safe to assume that the vehicle will make an appearance at Acura’s exhibit on the show floor as well.

Let’s recap what we know so far about the next Acura Integra

The 2023 Acura Integra will have a manual transmission option

While we don’t know what engine the 2023 Acura Integra will have, we do know that it will be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission if the buyer so chooses. Acura confirmed the transmission in a tweet featuring a montage of the manual shifters of each generation Integra up to now.

The automaker did not confirm if the new Integra will come standard with the 6-speed manual gearbox or only be available as an option, but those details might be covered during the debut.

Assuming there are no other massive announcements, the 2023 Acura Integra will be the only car in the brand’s lineup that offers a traditional manual transmission. Though, we are almost positive that a paddle-shift semi-automatic transmission will be available as well.

While we are glad that Acura confirmed the return of the manual gearbox, we are anxious to know what engine will be available in the 2023 Acura Integra Prototype. There are rumors that the new Integra will have the same engine found in the current Honda Civic Type R.

However, we are skeptical that Acura would release the Integra out of the box with so much power. We speculate that the 2023 Integra may share its engine with the 2022 Honda Civic Si and that a more powerful Integra Type R will come later.

The new Integra will be a 5 door liftback

In the months leading up to the eventual reveal of the 2023 Acura Integra Prototype, the automaker released several teasers of the sports car to keep everyone guessing. The first teaser image featured the Integra’s headlight and a bit of the bumper featuring the Integra name embossed on it, just like in the days of the DC2 model.

Later on, another teaser image was released showing the rear of the vehicle with a close-up on the taillight. When that image came out, Acura confirmed that the Integra’s body type will be a five-door liftback or “notchback” style.

That body type is very similar to the 2022 Honda Civic, which lends itself to the theory that the two vehicles will have a lot in common.
