Last night Acura finally peeled back the camo on the new 2023 Acura Integra. Unsurprisingly, the new model is nearly identical to the teaser images we were shown a while back. And, perhaps even more unsurprisingly, the new Integra (and its as-yet-unconfirmed Type R variant) is heavily based on the 2023 Honda Civic hatchback. Like the Civic, the new ‘Teggy is also heavily focused on marketing to young buyers, specifically enthusiasts.

How much will the new Integra cost?

Obviously, for that youth-focused marketing to work for Acura, the price has to be right. While we don’t have a hard number yet, Acura brand officer Jon Ikeda stated the 2023 Acura Integra will start around $30,000. Clearly, this pricing is right in line with what most consider to be a “more premium” Honda Civic Si. That sounds right given the specs provided at the launch by Ikeda.

Right now, we have very little to go off of. However, we do know that the 2023 Acura Integra will be powered by a 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. Thankfully, there’s also a limited-slip differential included. While that’s really not a lot of information, it does give us some clues as to some hard numbers thanks in large part to the current spec sheet for the Honda Civic Si.

It’s been more than a decade since the last Acura Integra

In Civic Si form, that 1.5L mill produces 200 hp and 192 lb-ft. Given the slightly more luxury-leaning angle of the Acura brand, we expect that number to come up a little. Not only because the 2023 Acura Integra will cost more, but because of the added weight. Luxury features have one real downside, and that’s weight. Obviously, in order to leave room for an eventual Integra Type R, we’re estimating right around 230 hp.

And that puts the 2023 Acura Integra in a very dangerous spot that it simply wasn’t in a decade or so ago. Base model Integras weren’t supposed to be sporty back then. That’s what the Type R was for. Now, however, the 2023 Acura Integra will have to contend with the likes of the Volkswagen GTI. Frankly, as long as the new model has hard buttons on the wheel, this should be an easy win for Acura.

Acura wants young buyers with the new Integra

While the potential specs of the 2023 Acura Integra are still under wraps, what kind of buyer Acura wants isn’t. The overall tone of the launch was geared (ha) towards young buyers. The recent social media posts from Acura (see above) are clearly marketed towards young buyers. It’s a strategy that pays off well for the Civic, whose largest chunk of buyers are indeed those under 40. Whether that works for the Integra, however, remains to be seen. The 2023 Acura Integra will hit dealers later next year.
