It’s hard to believe, but the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing has already been on sale for a year. Mind you, a year of supercharged, stick-shift sports sedan goodness is never boring or bad. But it does mean the 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing must pass the reins over to the incoming 2023 model. And whether you’ve been waiting to buy one or just like to window shop, here’s what you need to know.

When can you order a 2023 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing and how many will there be?

Since 2022 marks 120 years of the Cadillac brand, it’s celebrating with a special limited-edition 2023 CT5-V Blackwing. Appropriately dubbed the 120^th Anniversary Edition, Cadillac is only making—predictably—120 examples. However, it’s not limiting regular CT5-V Blackwing production for 2023. Until the dealerships close the order books, Cadillac will build as many as people want.

Speaking of dealerships, as of this writing, Cadillac hasn’t revealed when the first 2023 CT5-V Blackwings will arrive there. But according to GM Authority, 2023 CT5 production is scheduled to start on July 11^th, 2022 in GM’s Lansing Grand River plant. And while the CT5-V Blackwing’s Corvette-derived engine is hand-built elsewhere, the super sedan is assembled in Lansing. Thus, barring any supply chain hiccups, Cadillac should start making the 2023 version at the same time as the non-V models.

So, if you want to order a 2023 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, you’ll have to wait at least until July 11^th. And if you want a 120^th Anniversary Edition, you might want to start camping out, because one is already spoken for.

How much will the 2023 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing cost?

As of this writing, Cadillac hasn’t released pricing details for the 2023 CT5-V Blackwing 120^th Anniversary Edition. However, it will undoubtedly cost less than the $250,000 the first one earned at a recent charity auction.

Cadillac also hasn’t released pricing details for the regular 2023 CT5-V Blackwing yet. But according to GM Authority sources, the 2023 model will start at $84,940 after destination and freight charges. That’s actually slightly cheaper than the 2022 CT5-V Blackwing, which currently starts at $85,390 after destination.

Are there any changes to features or options in 2023?

Although a slightly lower starting price is welcome, it might stem from some cuts Cadillac is making to the 2023 CT5-V Blackwing.

GM Authority states that four colors—Satin Steel Metallic, Shadow Metallic, Infrared Tintcoat, and Dark Emerald Frost—are leaving the options list after 2022. Furthermore, the Driver Assist Package will once again be optional on automatic Blackwings. And it still won’t be available on manual CT5-V Blackwings, though that’s likely because some of its features aren’t compatible with a manual transmission.

But while some colors are leaving, some new ones are taking their place: Radiant Red Tintcoat, Argent Silver Metallic, Midnight Steel Metallic, Maverick Noir Frost. That last shade is a matte paint like Dark Emerald Frost. As these are all premium colors, they’ll cost extra. Based on the current CT5-V Blackwing pricing structure, the metallic ones will likely cost $625 while Radiant Red will probably cost $1225. And because it’s a matte paint, Maverick Noir Frost will cost even more: $3925, GM Authority says.

In addition, the 2023 CT5-V Blackwing will offer at least one new option. As of this writing, it’s unclear if Cadillac will offer the 2023 CT5-V’s new Bronze Accent Package on the Blackwing. However, it will offer the 120^th Anniversary Edition’s standard enclosed shipping as an option for regular models. As with private shipping, the cost varies based on the distance between the factory and destination.

Will the 2023 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing be just as fast as the 2022 one?

Something that absolutely isn’t changing is the 2023 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing’s performance. This RWD super sedan will still come standard with a supercharged V8 and a stick. It should therefore be just as fast and fun to drive as the 2022 model, which was a Road & Track Performance Car of the Year finalist.

Admittedly, the CT5-V Blackwing isn’t the fastest sedan. In a straight line on grippy-enough pavement, the Dodge Charger Jailbreak runs a faster ¼-mile. And an EV like a Tesla Model S Plaid or Porsche Taycan Turbo S hits 60 mph sooner. But none of those cars offer a manual. And even with a manual, the super Caddy beat the more expensive AWD M5 CS around Car and Driver’s Lightning Lap track.

So, while some things are changing for the 2023 CT5-V Blackwing, the speed is staying the same.
