2023 Chevrolet Camaro: Release Date, Price, and Specs
The Chevrolet Camaro is an American muscle car that competes with others like the Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger. It’s been around since the 60s and we’re uncertain of what will come of the nameplate in the future given the rise in popularity of electric and hybrid cars. However, here is what we can expect for the 2023 Chevrolet Camaro.
When will the 2023 Chevrolet Camaro be available to the public?
According to GM Authority, the production of the 2023 Chevrolet Camaro started on June 17th, so we can expect to see actual models show up in dealerships soon. How soon? We would estimate by the end of next month or so, barring any supply chain hold-ups. For now, you can still find 2022 Camaro models at a dealer near you.
How much will the 2023 Camaro cost?
The pricing for the 2023 Camaro is slightly elevated compared to that of the 2022 model. To be specific, there has been an $800 price increase year over year for the lower trims and a $3,700 increase for the ZL1. Here is the breakdown:
- Camaro 1LS: $27,195
- Camaro 1LT: $27,695
- Camaro 2LT: $29,695
- Camaro 3LT: $33,695
- Camaro LT1: $37,195
- Camaro 1SS: $40,695
- Camaro 2SS: $45,695
- Camaro ZL1: $68,095
That’s a pretty big pricing spread between the entry-level Camaro 1LS and the top-dog Camaro ZL1. However, the Camaro’s pricing does remain on par with that of the Mustang and the Challenger, which can be enough to lure prospective buyers over to the Bowtie brand. Also, keep in mind that these prices also include the destination charge.
2023 Chevy Camaro changes
The 2023 Chevy Camaro doesn’t bring about very many changes. Autoblog notes that the changes are mainly cosmetic with the bulk of them being paint changes and a few aesthetic updates. For starters, there will be two new colors offered – Radiant Red and Sharkskin Metallic – as well as 20-inch wheels, a rear stanchion spoiler, and a black-and-shock-yellow stripe kit for the 2LT, 3LT, and 2SS trim levels.
There are also a few carbon fiber trim pieces and painted brake calipers that can be thrown into the mix when customizing a 2023 Camaro. Otherwise, most of the standard features and engine options remain the same.
What is under the hood of the 2023 Camaro?
Just like the outgoing model, the 2023 Camaro LT and LS will come standard with a turbocharged inline-4 engine that pumps out 275 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. However, a 335-hp V6 is available on those same trims. Those that want the most muscle out of their Camaro can opt for the LT1 or SS models, which will come with a 6.2-liter V8 under the hood. That massive engine generates 455 hp and 455 lb-ft of torque.
However, for even more power, the Camaro ZL1 is strapped with a supercharged V8 engine that spins the tires to a tune of 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. That trim level isn’t exactly for the faint of heart, but it’s strong enough to leave other muscle cars shaking in their boots.
As for the rest of the 2023 Camaro’s specs, we can expect them to be the same as last year. That includes all of the power amenities, dual-zone climate control, a Bose audio upgrade, and Apple Carplay/Android Auto. Also, you can have whatever interior color you want, as long as it’s black.
