Is the 2023 Chevrolet Traverse any good?
The 2023 Chevrolet Traverse is a three-row American midsize SUV designed for families. It makes a great family hauler because it is roomy, powerful, and comes with great standard tech.
The Traverse is a decent midsize SUV, but it is regularly outlassed by segment leaders like the Hyundai Palisade and Kia Telluride. Does the 2023 model year have more to offer than previous model years, or is it just more of the same?
It turns out that Chevy’s newest Traverse isn’t much different from the previous model year. According to Kelley Blue Book, the only real changes are the addtion of two paint colors and a new steering wheel for the Traverse LT trim. So, is the Traverse the one you’ve been waiting on? Unless you were desperate for new color options or a new LT steering wheel, then probably not.
Nonetheless, the 2023 Traverse is stil a decent midsize three-row option. Chevy Safety Assist is standard on every Traverse trim. Safety Assist features Forward Collision Alert, a Following Distance Indicator, and Automatic Emergency Braking. It also comes with Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist and Lane Departure Warning, and IntelliBeam automatic high beams.
Should you buy a new Chevy Traverse?
The 2023 Chevrolet Traverse starts at $34,220. That’s pretty affordable compared to models like the Honda Passport, Mazda CX-9, and Jeep Grand Cherokee. It also makes more horses than plenty of its rivals.
The 2023 Traverse uses a 3.6-liter V6 engine to make 310 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. It achieves 18 miles per gallon in the city and 27 miles per gallon on the highway. The Traverse is far from the most fuel efficient model on the market.
U.S. News & World Report calls the Chevrolet Traverse one of the best midsize SUVs. It certainly is one of the safest, and that makes it an even better family hauler. If you’re looking for a safe midsize three-row family SUV that doesn’t break the bank, the new Traverse is worth buying. When it comes to value for the money, one midsize SUV has the Traverse beat.
