It’s hard to know what will work in the auto world when it comes to attracting the attention of potential car buyers. Automakers usually rely on TV commercials and online ads. Chevrolet’s latest rollout of the 2024 Blazer EV is taking a rather strange approach, however. There is very little information about the Chevy Blazer EV trims and it may push away some potential car buyers.

Chevrolet is being cryptic about the Blazer EV trims

So far, there are three trims on the first-ever Blazer EV listed on Chevrolet’s site. These are the 2LT, RS, and SS. Several sites have reported that there is a fourth trim known as the 1LT, but Chevrolet seems to have removed it from the lineup, at least for now.

The MSRP for the 2LT is $56,715, the RS is $60,215, and the SS has no price yet. In fact, there is very little information about the SS trim. 

What we do know is that the motor can generate 557 hp on the SS, and can go from zero to 60 in less than four seconds. Chevrolet bragged that the SS was incredibly fast, and has a GM-estimated range of 290 miles with the performance AWD.

The 2LT and RS both have an EPA-estimated 279 miles while using AWD. It’s equipped with 19-inch wheels.

The RS trim cranks things up a notch with 21-inch wheels, a black-painted grille panel, Evotex seating, and an illuminated front light bar and bow tie with animation.

Front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, and rear-wheel drive will all be available. The 11-inch diagonal driver display and 17.7-inch display screen make navigating the tech simple. Super Cruise is another feature that will help set the Blazer EV apart.

As for safety, there is automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, forward collision alert, front pedestrian braking, following distance indicator, and IntelliBeam auto high beams. Another safety option which is available is the Enhanced Automatic Parking Assist. It can help with parallel and perpendicular parking by steering, shifting gears, and even braking automatically.

When will the Blazer EV be available for sale?

This is where things begin to get a little confusing. None of the Chevy Blazer EV trims are being released at the same time. Chevrolet has made the decision to stagger the release of each trim for reasons that aren’t exactly clear.

The RS came out first, in the summer of 2023. After this will be the 2LT, which is supposed to be available in the fall of 2023. There is no specific release date for the SS, but it’s expected to hit dealership floors in the spring of 2024. Once again, there is no word about the 1LT on Chevy’s site.

Last November, we reported that the first round of pre-orders was quickly shut down. We suspected this was due to so many people ordering a 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV. Will this trend continue, though?

Will Chevrolet’s new rollout translate to sales?

This is the real question. The rollout for the Chevy Blazer EV trims is rather strange, to be honest. It could be something that could tempt buyers to purchase the first one that was released if we knew all the information, but Chevrolet is keeping a tight lid on the information, like declining to reveal the price of the SS trim until it gets closer to time to release.

Because of this, many buyers may be holding off for more details. It’s obvious that the SS offers the most, so potential car buyers interested in the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV may be waiting to find out more about it. This could potentially hurt Chevrolet’s sales, at least temporarily. We’ll just have to wait until the sales data comes out to learn more.
