The 2023 Chevy Colorado Cut 1 Crucial Feature for Comfort
Some will look at the new Chevrolet Colorado and instantly be enthralled. This truck got one heck of a makeover inside and out. However, not everything about the 2023 Chevy Colorado will make fans happy. Some significant features were cut.
The 2023 Chevy Colorado got smaller
According to Pickup Truck Talk, the 2023 Chevy Colorado just lost passenger space. One of the biggest complaints about the 2022 Colorado is the lack of passenger space in the rear seat. But apparently, Chevrolet didn’t listen because now there’s even less room.
The legroom in the back of the 2023 Colorado was reduced by 1.1 inches. This is a small amount, but it makes a difference. If you thought the previous generation lacked space, now you’ll struggle with a smaller area to work with. Kids, cargo, and pets could be a squeeze back there.
Plus, the Colorado is now only available with the CrewCab and short bed configuration. Say goodbye to the extended cab. Also, the 6-foot 2-inch bed was dropped. The current bed is five feet and two inches long. So, now there’s less room for your cargo too.
The Chevy Colorado has engine changes
Some people may be upset because the 2023 Chevy Colorado dropped its 2.8-liter four-cylinder diesel engine. It cranked out 181 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque.
The 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 200 hp and 191 lb-ft of torque probably won’t be missed, but it did provide buyers with a cheaper option.
Also, the 3.6-liter V6 engine with 308 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque bit the dust. It has a solid amount of power and helped the Colorado accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 3 seconds, which is respectable for a mid-size truck.
With the 2023 Colorado, you get a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with varying power output. The standard configuration provides 237 hp and 259 lb-ft of torque.
Upgrading to the Turbo Plus variant provides access to 310 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. Also, the Turbo High-Output model cranks out 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque.
The new engine probably helps the Colorado achieve a faster acceleration time, but the official figures haven’t been released. It could also have an improved fuel economy. The 2022 model gets an EPA-estimated 20 mpg in the city and up to 30 mpg on the highway.
What’s good about the new Colorado?
The 2023 Chevy Colorado features incredible upgrades even if it did get smaller and dropped a few engine options. For example, it has a longer wheelbase to improve its ride quality and approach angle.
Plus, while the new engine has more power, it’s also paired with a revised eight-speed automatic transmission to improve its performance. It should provide smoother transmission shafts, more power on demand, and enhance its off-roading capabilities.
Three off-roading trims are available, including the Trail Boss, ZR2, and Desert Boss. Hopefully, the Trail Boss option will be an affordable option. But the 2023 Chevy Colorado price hasn’t been revealed.
Also, the Colorado looks great with a new exterior designed and a totally revamped interior that includes modern tech. We can’t wait to test out the new model to see how it compares to the outgoing generation.
