The 2023 Equinox is a slight improvement over last year’s model when it comes to power. Chevrolet promises to offer some nice features to appeal to a wide variety of people who may be in the market for a crossover like this. But, for some, it won’t matter what it has if they can’t get one of the most popular apps vehicles offer: Apple CarPlay. Will the 2023 Chevy Equinox have Apple CarPlay?

What can you expect with the 2023 Chevy Equinox?

The Equinox has four trim levels to choose from. Its base model is the LS, one of the most inexpensive on the market, coming in at $27,995 to start for the standard front-wheel drive. According to Chevrolet, you’ll pay approximately $1,600 more if you choose AWD. 

For that price, you get a 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder producing 175 hp and 203 lb-ft of torque installed on all four trims. Paired with it is a six-speed automatic transmission. Other features include 17-inch aluminum wheels with all-season Blackwall tires, front bucket seats, carpeted floor mats, keyless start, cloth seats, and GM’s Teen Driver system. 

Upgrading to the LT, you get LED daytime running lamps, MacPherson front suspension, a 4.2-inch multi-color driver information display, and a lumbar control on the driver’s seat. This model can get up to 31 mpg on the highway and 26 mpg when driving on city roads. For this trim, you can expect to pay about $29,095.

Next is the RS trim, which starts at $32,095. This model offers a couple of packages that are standard on this trim. The Driver’s Convenience package offers a remote start, a power liftgate, and a wrapped steering wheel. It also comes with the Confidence and Convenience package with front heated seats and rear park assist.

The Premier is Chevy’s highest trim level on the Equinox, which starts at $33,195. This model has front USB ports, a heated steering wheel, lane-change alert with side blind zone alert, and rear cross-traffic alert. 

The 2023 model year also promises an EV version of the Equinox, costing around $30,000 for the base. With the electric motor setup, you can expect 210 hp with the front-wheel drive model and 290 hp on the all-wheel drive version. 

Does the 2023 Chevy Equinox have Apple CarPlay?

Those with iPhones often inquire whether a vehicle comes with Apple CarPlay or not, which is understandable because many people rely on certain apps on their phones to keep them connected. The good news is that the 2023 Chevy Equinox does come with it. 

Most models nowadays come with the app, but there are two versions you typically find on each vehicle that offers it. The wired system lets you connect your iPhone to the car’s infotainment display using a cable. The other version also connects to the phone, except it will do it wirelessly.  

The Chevy Equinox has wireless integration, so you can connect to the vehicle using the 4G WiFi built into the car. However, by the end of 2023, the Apple CarPlay app will upgrade to an extended version. It will expand to all of your dashboard screens, not just the infotainment system. 

According to Business Insider, you can customize your displays and even add more widgets to make driving your vehicle easier, like weather apps and a garage door opener, to name a few. 

What other tech features does Equinox offer?

The Chevy Equinox offers Super Cruise as standard equipment. This feature is Chevy’s answer to the hands-free driving experience that some other vehicles, like Tesla, are well-known for. While it allows you to cruise down the highway without actively driving the SUV, you will still be expected to pay close attention to the road and what’s happening around you if something happens and you need to act quickly. 

Chevy’s Equinox also comes with Android Auto, which is good news for Android users. The 2023 model will offer the wireless version, just like Apple CarPlay. Another helpful feature is the My Chevy App, which allows you to use your smartphone to control certain features on your vehicle, like locating your SUV in a crowded parking lot.
