How to order a 2023 Chevy Silverado EV
The countdown for the 2023 Chevy Silverado EV is almost done. The electric truck will debut on Wednesday, January 5, online at 1 PM Eastern Time. You’ll be able to feast your eyes on the truck before making your reservation.
If you like what you see, you can make your reservation one hour later at 2 PM EST. Just visit the Chevy site here when the gates open. We are currently unaware of how much it will cost to reserve the EV.
Keep your finger on the pulse. Reservations may sell out quickly. It may reach numbers similar to the popular Ford F-150 Lightning, which received 20,000 reservations in only 12 hours after the order books opened.
How much does the Chevy Silverado EV cost?
Official pricing for the 2023 Chevy Silverado EV hasn’t been released. But that doesn’t mean we can’t speculate. Pricing could begin around $40,000 to $50,000 to be competitive against the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning. It costs about $39,974 to get started.
The Silverado electric truck isn’t expected to have a luxury price tag like the GMC Hummer EV, which starts around $108,700, and the Rivian R1T $74,075. While it won’t fall in the luxury truck category, it will still be highly capable for off-roading, like the Hummer EV.
There should be multiple trim levels for the Chevy Silverado EV, including a basic work truck, off-roading trim, and a top-end High Country model. The top-of-the-line luxury trim may begin at around $70,000.
We could see the new EV arrive faster than expected, so perhaps pricing will be revealed soon. It will be built beside the Hummer EV at the General Motors’ Detroit-Hamtramck Factory Zero facility in Michigan.
GM has invested over $2.2 billion into this facility to prepare for electric vehicles. The new Silverado EV will be entirely produced from the ground up.
How much range does the Chevrolet Silverado EV have?
We still don’t know much about the 2023 Chevy Silverado EV, but that will change on the 5th. Until then, it’s expected to have up to 400 miles of range with the larger 200-kWh battery pack. We aren’t sure about how much range comes with the standard pack.
The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning provides about 230 miles of range with the standard battery pack and 300 miles of range with the extended range battery.
Rumors suggest that a Silverado EV with 1,000 hp may be in the works for later. But the base model should have about 500 hp. The F-150 Lightning has 563 hp and 775 lb-ft of torque. Chevy hasn’t relieved how much the Silverado EV can yet, either.
But we do know that all-wheel drive will come standard. Plus, the Silverado EV will have a Four-Wheel Steer system, so it’s expected to be off-roading ready. The top trim will ride on 24-inch wheels.
We can’t wait to learn more about the 2023 Chevy Silverado EV in just a few days. We will keep you updated and immediately compare it to rivals.
