The 2023 Chevy Silverado ZR2 Bison Is a Premium Off-Road-Ready Beast
The 2023 Chevy Silverado ZR2 Bison is a new special edition version of Chevy’s extremely popular pickup truck. It offers an off-road-ready vibe with everything you need to actually take your truck off-roading. In addition to continuing some of previous models of the ZR2 excellent features, the 2023 model will offer some slight adjustments that should make it an even better pickup truck. Here’s what comes in the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 Bison and what you can expect to pay for it.
What is the 2023 Chevy Silverado ZR2 Bison?
The 2023 Chevy Silverado ZR2 Bison is a special edition version of the brand new Silverado truck. According to Chevy, it’s “designed to bolster the truck’s off-road capability including rocker protection, unique skid plates, custom front bumper and more.”
In addition to all of this, the ZR2 Bison has a new, more powerful engine that can put out 305 up and 495 lb-ft of torque. This is all due to a partnership with American Expedition Vehicles (AEV), which is an aftermarket manufacturer. AEV is responsible for the 2019 ZR2 Bison, which was the most popular special edition package.
What does the Silverado ZR2 Bison include?
The 2023 Chevy Silverado ZR2 Bison has a 6.2-liter V8 engine that makes 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. This is matched to a 10-speed automatic transmission. It also has 40-millimeter spool-valve dampers that include three separate spool valves, three connected chambers, and specially tuned springs. These, “with the Multimatic dampers, increase maximum front and rear suspension travel, compared to the Silverado Trail Boss.”
The new Silverado ZR2 has off-road specific chassis and suspension, as well as steel bumpers, underbody protection, and front and rear locking differentials.
How much will the ZR2 Bison cost?
The new 2023 Chevy Silverado ZR2 Bison has a starting price of about $78,490. It is going to start production in the beginning of 2023, so if you have the ZR2 Bison on your radar, you shouldn’t have too long to wait. According to AEV CEO and Founder Dave Harriton, Chevy is “confident off-road enthusiasts are going to love this truck.”
There are some new changes for the 2023 Chevy Silverado ZR2 Bison. For example, the front approach angle has been increased, as has the departure angle. The ground clearance is the same as previous models of the Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 Bison.
If you’re in the market for a new pickup truck and you love the Chevy Silverado, but know that you’ll be taking it off-roading often, you just might want to splurge on the ZR2 Bison. It will come with everything you need to have a complete off-road beast, and it will do so with the usual Silverado flair.
