The 2023 Chevy Tahoe SS Packs a More Powerful Punch
Get ready to send it in the 2023 Chevy Tahoe SS. If you don’t think the Chevy Tahoe has enough power, just give it a few months. The high-performance SS model could be here before you know it, providing this three-row SUV with enhanced speed.
The 2023 Chevy Tahoe SS is ready to race
But what is the Chevy Tahoe SS? SS is usually included with the names of boats. The letters referred to the vessel’s mode of propulsion. For example, SS is referred to screw steamer, and MV means a motor vessel.
While the Tahoe is as big as a boat, it’s not a screw steamer. The 2023 Chevy Tahoe SS actually means Super Sport. It could serve as a high-performance model to satisfy drivers who want a massive ride with the need for speed.
One rumor suggests that the new Chevrolet Tahoe SS could have a two-door model. However, we don’t think that’s the case. The Tahoe is known for being massive, but perhaps a Blazer SS could be squared off as a more traditional high-performance model.
What to expect with the Tahoe SS
The 2023 Chevy Tahoe SS will most likely be a four-door model with more than enough power to send it flying. Currently, the most powerful engine in the Tahoe lineup is the 6.2-liter V8 engine. It pumps out 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.
With this engine, the Tahoe can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 6.5 seconds, which is impressive. But it could get faster. Rumors suggest that the Tahoe SS could gain the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 LT4 engine from the Camaro ZL1.
This engine churns out 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque, which is quite the upgrade. With this engine, the Chevy Camaro ZL1 can reach 60 mph in about four seconds. That’s not far behind the Dodge Durango Hellcat that can reach 60 mph in about 3.4 seconds.
But the Chevy Tahoe is quite a bit different than the Camaro. It might not have the same amount of power and speed due to its larger size and heavier weight. Also, some rumors about new hybrid engines are floating around.
Plus, the 2023 Cadillac Escalade V was recently announced. It uses the 6.2-liter V8 engine with 668 hp and 648 lb-ft of torque from the CT5-V Blackwing. But the official specs haven’t been released, and the engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
The Escalade V is expected to come with a luxury price tag, so the Chevy Tahoe SS would provide customers with a more affordable high-performance SUV.
