2023 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban Will Have 1 Amazing New Feature
The 2023 Chevy Tahoe and 2023 Chevy Suburban will have one amazing new feature. Hands-free driving technology is something automakers all want in their vehicles. However, it’s been challenging to implement any new features with the chip shortage. By 2023, the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban hope to have GM’s Super Cruise technology. Will the automaker pull it off for the two full-size SUVs?
Will the 2023 Chevy Tahoe and 2023 Chevy Suburban have Super Cruise?
According to Car and Driver, Chevy plans to add Super Cruise to the Tahoe and Suburban for 2023. Unfortunately, the semiconductor shortage might have something to say about it. Moreover, the Super Cruise hands-free driver-assist system is one of the best available but is only in a few models currently. Whether or not these two SUVs will gain the technology is up in the air.
A representative from CAD spoke with a Chevrolet spokesperson, asking if the feature needed to be pushed back to the 2024 model year:
“Due to current supply-chain shortages, certain features—including Super Cruise—have limited and late availability. (Chevy is) continuing to monitor chip availability and will make this determination when our business deems appropriate in the model year cycle,” the spokesperson told CAD.
As a result, it looks pretty likely Chevy is confident in its ability to implement the technology for 2023. If not, we’d be waiting until the 2024 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban to use Super Cruise. The automaker may have a better handle on the situation than they’ve led us to believe. Stating that supply chain and semiconductor shortage issues could prevent Super Cruise from entering the two SUVs simply saves them in case something goes wrong.
Which Tahoe and Suburban trims will have Super Cruise?
Customers need to pay a premium price to get Super Cruise in the 2023 Chevy Tahoe and 2023 Chevy Suburban. Only the Premier and High Country trim levels include the hands-free driving feature for both models. Is the driver-assist technology worth spending the extra cash? How much do the Premier and High Country trims cost?
For 2022, the Chevy Tahoe Premier starts at $67,445, and the High Country starts at $74,295. Both models are significantly pricier than the base LS model, starting at $53,695. Next, the current model year Suburban starts at $56,395. However, the Premier and High Country trims are $70,145 and $76,995, respectively. As you might expect, adding Super Cruise will raise the price even more for 2023. As a result, only those able and willing to spend top-dollar can afford the hands-free driving technology.
Which vehicles have Super Cruise?
As of the 2022 model year, a few vehicles are known to have or be getting Super Cruise driver-assist technology. Furthermore, the feature is available in or coming to the Cadilac CT4 and CT5, Cadillac XT6, Cadillac LYRIQ, Cadillac Escalade, Chevy Silverado, Chevy Bolt EUV, GMC Sierra, and the GMC Hummer EV.
Super Cruise includes hands-free automatic lane change and trailering for trucks and SUVs. Additionally, the company is offering over-the-air updates. That means owners can download any bug fixes or new features without visiting a dealership or mechanic. Instead, download it while connected to Wi-Fi at home.
2023 Chevy Tahoe and 2023 Chevy Suburban are getting 1 amazing new feature
In conclusion, the 2023 Chevy Tahoe and 2023 Chevy Suburban will hopefully both have Super Cruise technology. Due to the semiconductor chip shortage, there’s a chance the automaker is unable to implement the technology in these two SUVs. However, it seems confident that it won’t be a problem. As a result, customers will need to spend top dollar for the highest trims to get the hands-free driving technology. The same driver assistance features are already available in a few Cadillac, Chevy, and GMC models.
