How much power does the 2023 Dodge Hornet have? 

Despite not having a HEMI, the 2023 Dodge Hornet is expected to strike with plenty of electric and hybrid power. It could gain the engine lineup from the 2022 Alfa Romeo Tonale. It kicks things off with a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine with 256 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. 

You can upgrade to the plug-in electric system, which consists of a 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine and a 15.5-kWh battery. According to Pickup Truck Talk, this setup could crank out 272 hp. But if it uses a bigger battery pack, then it could be even more powerful. 

These engines are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission in the Tonale. We wouldn’t be surprised if the Dodge Hornet upgraded to at least an eight-speed transmission, and don’t expect a manual option to emerge. 

The Tonale can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 6.0 seconds. Plus, it has an electric range of up to 30 miles. When properly equipped, it can tow up to 3,000 lbs. We would like the Hornet to tow at least 3,500 lbs to match rivals. 

What do we know about the 2023 Hornet? 

The 2023 Dodge Hornet could come with standard all-wheel drive, like the 2022 Alfa Romeo Tonale. However, we see it as more of an urban vehicle for daily commutes in the city. Its compact size makes it easy to maneuver in tight city areas. 

It probably won’t ha an off-roading variant with a suspension life and beefier tires. However, it could have off-roading modes for snow ice, and other slippery conditions. 

The new Dodge Hornet will probably be a luxurious compact SUV with plenty of comforts. But it will be more affordable than its Alfa Romeo Tonale twin.  

It rides on the same platform as the Jeep Compass. However, it has been modified and may provide a smoother ride and quieter interior as a result. It has a fully independent suspension with optional dampers and provides an experience that remains true to racing DNA. 

The interior may feature steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters and pops of aluminum to provide a racing feel. 

How much does the 2023 Hornet cost? 

The 2023 Dodge Hornet is expected to start at around $29,000. Higher trim levels could increase the price to about $50,000. It will rival options like the Kia Sorento, Mazda CX-30, and Volkswagen Taos. 

We know that the price seems high for a compact option, but it may come loaded with value. It may feature a 10.3-inch touchscreen, 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. 

We should learn more about the Dodge Hornet soon. Information is expected to arrive during Dodge Speed Week on August 15, so that’s only a few weeks away. The Hornet should go on sale by the end of the year.
