The Ford Bronco is a modern revival of the Blue Oval’s classic SUV, and this model has been as popular as previous generations. However, the new Bronco rollout hasn’t been flawless, and Ford has already experienced significant issues with the SUV. Here’s a look at how an ordering glitch could leave owners with a 2023 Ford Bronco that doesn’t have an auxiliary switch. 

Overview of the 2023 Ford Bronco

The current generation of the Ford Bronco debuted for the 2021 model year, so the 2023 version isn’t that different from the others in this generation. The standard 2023 Bronco starts at about $32,000 and packs a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine making 300 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque. Ford offers another engine option, a 2.7-liter V6, producing 330 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque. 

The automaker designed the Bronco to go off-road, but those two engines still allow the Ford SUV to be quick on highways. Models with the standard engine can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about seven seconds, while the V6 accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 6.7 seconds. Both allow the Bronco to tow 3,500 pounds, but they aren’t very fuel-efficient. The standard engine gets about 20 mpg combined, while the V6 gets about 19 mpg.

While the Bronco continues to be a popular SUV, getting your hands on one hasn’t been easy. According to Ford Authority, shoppers have faced multiple problems when they try to buy a Bronco. The biggest issue relates to supply chain issues. Due to the lack of semiconductor chips and other critical parts, Ford, like most other automakers, has struggled to meet the demand for its vehicles.

That has made ordering a Bronco difficult because Ford is only allowing customers with existing reservations or orders to get one. Not only that, but Ford also recently experienced another major ordering issue — not once, but twice. One issue was related to the Sasquatch Package, which was accidentally removed from the ordering system.

The other issue concerned the Bronco’s auxiliary switch, an option that’s standard on higher trims, including the Bronco Raptor. The switch is mainly used by folks who want to customize and accessorize their Bronco. This issue happened after the automaker updated the web-based dealer ordering system. Ford alerted dealers to the problem, but customers with a Bronco order should check to ensure their SUV has an auxiliary switch if it’s supposed to have one.

Unfortunately for fans, the Ford Bronco’s issues don’t stop there. Despite being a new model, the Bronco has already had engine problems. They have mainly affected the V6 option. The Bronco has also been the subject of several recalls, including one for airbags. That issue stems from a manufacturing problem that could cause the airbags to deploy incorrectly.

The Ford SUV has also faced other, minor recalls, such as one regarding car locks.

In addition, the Bronco Sport, a smaller crossover model, has experienced even more issues. Debuting for the 2021 model year, the Bronco Sport has already racked up more than five recalls in its first year.
