Hot makeover alert, the Ford Escape just got a brand new look. Fans of the Escape already know that this is one underrated SUV, but now it has a confident style to match its spunky attitude. The 2023 Ford Escape got better tech too! 

2023 Ford Escape: What’s new? 

The 2023 Ford Escape is hard to miss with its attractive makeover. It got a revised grille design, updated grille shape, angular LED headlights, an LED bar that spans the width of the grille, and a new bumper shape. 

On older models, the blue oval sat on the hood, but now it sits in the middle of the grille. Also, there are new wheel designs to match different trim levels. 

The Ford Escape ST has body-colored cladding for a sportier appearance. It can be paired with 18-inch or 19-inch wheels. The interior features black faux-leather upholstery with red accent stitching for racing vibes. 

The Ford Sync 4 infotainment software is now available. While an 8.0-inch infotainment screen and 8.0-inch digital gauge cluster are standard, you can upgrade to a 13.2-inch screen and a 12.3-inch gauge display. 

According to Car and Driver, the 2023 Escape now offers over-the-air updates, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charging pad, a 360-degree camera display, and an evasive assist steering system. 

Does the 2023 Escape get more power? 

No, the 2023 Ford Escape didn’t get more power, but it doesn’t exactly need it. The standard 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine provides 180 hp and 190 lb-ft of torque. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine cranks out 250 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. 

With the 2023 Escape Hybrid, you get the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that’s paired with an electric motor to generate 200 hp and 155 lb-ft of torque. 

The plug-in hybrid Escape, or PHEV, uses the same setup but also has an 11.2-kWh battery pack. It pumps out 210 hp and 155 lb-ft of torque. This is a decrease of 11 horses compared to the outgoing model. 

The Escape PHEV gets an EPA-estimated 37 miles of electric range on a single charge. It gets about 105 MPGe and up to 40 mpg on gas alone. 

When properly equipped, the Escape can tow up to 3,500 lbs, which is the same amount that the Toyota RAV4 can tow. 

How much does the 2023 Escape cost? 

The 2023 Ford Escape price starts at $28,995, which is only a $335 price increase over last year’s model. This makes the upgraded tech and looks seem like a genuine bargain. The Active trim comes in at $30,340, and the ST-Line brings the price up to $31,335. 

You can upgrade to the Platinum model for $37,460, and the to-spec PHEV brings the price to around $39,995. The order books are open now, and 2023 models are expected to arrive at dealerships by the fall. 

We can’t wait to see how the upgraded ST-Line performs. We loved testing our Ford Escape but felt like the exterior look and interior tech was a little dated. The 2023 model should solve these issues.
