What sets the 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning Pro SSV apart from the regular Lightning? While the Lightning is unique in its own way, the Pro SSV has been designed from the ground up to be a suitable Police Responder truck that happens to have an electric powertrain.

Meanwhile, Ford has provided vehicles for police departments for more than 70 years now. Ford Pro customers include more than 12,000 departments around the U.S., which are the ideal candidates for an electric emergency vehicle. The Ford Pro police vehicle lineup outsells all other automakers offering SSVs for purchase. Thanks to those on the Ford Police Advisory Board, this specialty vehicle has come to fruition.

“We’re proud to offer America’s first electric police pickup truck to local government customers who can use the truck’s game-changing technology to help improve their productivity.”

Nate Oscarson | Ford Pro national government sales manager

Thanks to the Lightning’s Pro Power Onboard, the truck can be a mobile power source for accident scenes or other situations. Ford says the electric powertrain has the potential to “reduce costs associated with fuel and scheduled maintenance needs.”
