The 2023 Ford F-150 Starts the Year With an Explosive Lead
Can anything slow the incredibly popular Ford F-150 down? Rivals like the Ram 1500 have come in hot with a better ride quality and advanced tech, but drivers mostly don’t care. The 2023 Ford F-150 is picking up even more speed.
Is the 2023 Ford F-150 the best truck?
A majority of outlets digress about which truck is best, but the 2023 Ford F-150 is an excellent contender. Sometimes the Ram 1500 outranks it for being more comfortable, and some trucks agave a better reliability ranking.
However, the 2023 F-150 is the best-selling truck. According to Car and Driver, it’s the most popular vehicle of 2023, and it feels like the year has just started. In reality, spring is already here, and the 2023 F-150 has already moved 170,377 units so far.
It experienced a 21% increase compared to the same time period last year, and 4,921 of its sales are related to the Ford F-150 Lightning.
The 2023 Chevy Silverado landed in second place with 123,994 units sold. But this number also includes the heavy-duty models, so we aren’t exactly sure about how the Silverado 1500 is doing on its own. But all of the models combined still fall behind the Ford F-150.
Also, the 2023 Ram 1500 is in third place with 105,350 sales so far. It experienced a 17% decrease in sales compared to last year. It’s nearly 65,027 units behind the F-150.
Why is the Ford F-150 so popular?
The 2023 Ford F-150 could be the best-selling truck because of its name and heritage. The first Ford truck debuted in 1917, and it was based on the Model T. The first Chevrolet truck came out in 1918.
The first official F-150 truck emerged in 1970, and the Chevy Silverado 1500 debuted in 1999. The first Dodge truck was introduced in 1919, while the Ram 1500 came out in 1981.
For decades, the F-150 has been the best-selling truck because it has a history of meeting the diverse needs of drivers with comfort, durability, and capability.
The 2023 F-150 is available with 10 different trim levels and a variety of optional packages. Plus, there are eight different powertrains available, including a hybrid and electric setup to meet various budgets and lifestyles.
You can get a more affordable basic work truck, a truck that feels as fast as lighting, a stout off-roader, or lavish luxury amenities.
Plus, the F-150 has the best-in-class towing figures with the ability to haul up to 14,000 lbs. It can carry a payload of up to 3,315 lbs.
Is the 2024 F-150 worth waiting for?
The 2023 Ford F-150 builds upon the current generation with the affordable Rattler off-roading trim, and the monstrous Ford F-150 Raptor R dropped with 700 hp. It’s part of the 14th generation that debuted in 2021, so it still feels fresh and modern.
But the 2024 Ford F-150 is already getting a mid-cycle refresh! It’s safe to expect updated LED headlights, a new grille design, a revised front bumper, updated taillights, and fresh wheel designs.
The interior could be refreshed with new infotainment screens, but the powertrain options will probably be the same. It’s worth waiting for if you want the latest style.
But waiting won’t slow the 2023 F-150 down. It continues to dominate as the best-selling truck and seems impossible to catch.
