Is the 2023 Ford F-150 XLT Worth an $8,000 Premium?
The 2023 F-150 is the latest version of Ford‘s full-size pickup truck. Although there are premium options like the King Ranch and Limited trim, there are still versions, such as the XL and XLT, that are focused on being more affordable. But, is the 2023 Ford F-150 XLT worth paying $8,105 more than the F-150 XL model?
What is the 2023 F-150 XLT?
The F-150 XLT pickup truck is a step above the base XL model. It offers much of the same features as the XL model while also delivering more. You will get chrome bumpers, a rear window defroster, and some standard safety assistance tech.
In addition to more standard features, this full-size truck also gives the option for some different equipment. For instance, if you live in a place with winter conditions, you are likely to appreciate the optional heated seats. But, at $41,800, it would be nice to see some of this stuff made standard.
Other notable upgrades include the Intelligent Access keyless entry that comes with push-button start. You can also get a 360-degree camera that can certainly help if you plan on actually towing with your Ford truck.
Is the Ford F-150 good off-road?
In terms of off-road ability, the 2023 F-150 XLT can be an alright option. The FX4 package adds an electronic locking rear axle, off-road suspension, and skid plates.
Another upgrade with this package is the rock crawl mode. To get the FX4 Off-Road package, you will need to pay a premium of $1,095. But, that’s not all, you also have to opt for the 2.6-liter EcoBoost V6 engine, which increases the price even more.
What is better: XLT or XL?
The 2023 Ford F-150 XL is cheaper than the F-150 XLT, but the XLT model does come with more features. Some of this equipment is not made available to the base model of this full-size truck, so if you do want them, you’ll have to make the step up.
That is not to say the F-150 XL is a bad pickup truck. Some consumers appreciate a simple and old-school truck, and the XL does fill the role in some ways. Unfortunately, Ford has stated that some variants of the 2023 F-150 XL are no longer available to order.
Is the 2023 Ford F-150 XLT a good truck?
According to AutoTrader, the F-150 XLT is a decent full-size truck. Whether you are looking for a hybrid pickup or a traditional V6, you can get it with this trim. Plus, it is cheaper than something like the Lariat trim.
Although the XLT does add some price to this Ford truck, the $8,000 premium might be justified to some shoppers. Especially as more and more pickup owners seem to have an appreciation for luxury and comfort features.
It does look like the 2023 Ford F-150 XLT is still available for order if you are interested. But with current supply chain issues, dealership inventories might be limited or marked up.
