Will the 2023 Ford Maverick Hybrid Get AWD?
It’s no secret, the Ford Maverick has been an extremely popular small truck. It comes with a standard hybrid engine, is fairly capable, and is actually cheap. And being an affordable vehicle actually worth buying is not something common in today’s market. However, the Maverick managed to do just that, and that has brought traditional truck owners and newcomers alike to purchase this compact pickup. But will the 2023 Ford Maverick Hybrid ever get all-wheel drive?
Does the Ford Maverick have AWD?
The Maverick truck does offer AWD, but you have to opt for the larger engine in order to get it. And that means you cannot benefit from both AWD and the hybrid powertrain. Plus, you will have to deal with the additional costs of upgrading to the more potent powerplant along with adding AWD. That fact does take away some of the value proposition of this small truck.
According to MotorTrend, that could very well change, though. Allegedly Ford has been testing new configurations of the Maverick. Including a version that could be a plug-in hybrid while offering AWD. While that is not confirmation that the 2023 Ford Maverick will offer all-wheel drive, it does give some hope that it could be coming in the future.
Can you get a Maverick Hybrid truck with AWD?
Unfortunately, the Ford Maverick Hybrid is not yet available with AWD. But hopefully, in the future, that will change. The hybrid version of the Maverick sold extremely well, so well that it seemingly became unavailable as soon as it went on sale. It’s easy to see that a Ford Maverick Hybrid with AWD would be a popular option for those who want efficiency with power going to all four wheels.
What would be great is if Ford does actually release a PHEV Maverick. That would give shoppers the option to get a plug-in hybrid with the utility of a truck bed. And even better would be a Ford Maverick PHEV AWD, something that would undoubtedly sell well.
Can you buy a 2023 Maverick?
The 2023 Ford Maverick is not yet available, but it should go on sale at some point in September. That could easily change, though, as the 2023 Maverick was already supposed to be open for orders. Once order banks do open, if you want a Maverick, you should plan to act quickly.
One would hope that the Blue Oval has figured out supply issues, but demand will likely be high. So, this small truck could easily sell out quickly. Currently, if you want to buy a 2022 Ford Maverick, you should expect to pay a markup. If you can even find one available near you. Customer orders for this version of the Maverick are no longer available. And finding one at a dealership can be quite a difficult task.
Production of the 2023 Maverick will allegedly start in October. The 2023 Ford Maverick will get various updates, including a new Tremor package. And perhaps, there will be a PHEV model with AWD released. Only Ford knows what it intends to actually produce, though.
