Want a 2023 Ford Maverick? Order Banks Will Open Early
The popularity of the Ford Maverick has been so great, that Ford was actually forced to place a pause on customer orders for the 2022 model year. Simply put, supply was not able to keep up with demand. But now, there is some light at the end of the tunnel, as Ford has announced 2023 Maverick orders will be opening up on August 2nd. This is a couple of weeks earlier than expected for this small pickup truck.
When can you buy a 2023 Ford Maverick?
According to Ford Authority, orders for Ford’s small pickup truck will open on the first days of August. And when they do, you should plan to act fast. While one would hope that Ford has figured out production issues, the supply chain disruption is not over yet.
Because of that, it is entirely possible that the blue oval will find itself in the same predicament it is in now with the 2022 Maverick. In fact, some buyers who purchased a 2022 Ford Maverick may actually be getting the 2023 version. And to some, that can be pretty frustrating.
What’s new for the 2023 Maverick?
It’s unlikely that Ford will make any major changes to the new Maverick. It was just introduced for 2022, so expect a little bit before significant updates happen. The 2023 Ford Maverick will probably feature the same powertrains as it does now. A hybrid engine and an optional turbocharged powerplant with 280 horsepower.
Another hope is that the Maverick will retain its affordable price tag. If you are looking for a cheap truck, a pickup that starts at just $20,000 is certainly an attractive offering. A price like that makes the Maverick closer to a compact car in terms of cost rather than a traditional truck.
Can you buy a Ford Maverick right now?
Buying a Ford Maverick right now is extremely difficult, but not impossible. You can no longer order one online, and finding one available at a dealership might mean some searching around. That said, it is possible to find an option on the second-hand market. Just don’t expect to pay the sticker price, as these compact pickup trucks are subject to markups.
Come August 2nd, that should change. And that is because Ford will start taking orders again for its small truck. Just keep in mind that you will not be buying a 2022 version, but a 2023 version instead.
Is there an alternative to the Maverick?
If you are interested in buying a small truck, the Ford Maverick is not the only option on the market. There is the 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz, but it’s not quite as cheap as Ford’s compact pickup. Additionally, the Santa Cruz does not offer a hybrid engine. And that may be a deal breaker for some buyers who value efficiency.
Unlike the Ford Maverick, the Hyundai Santa Cruz lacks an off-road package. So, if you are interested in some light off-roading or just want a more rugged pickup, waiting for the 2023 Maverick is worth it.
