The 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E will be the third Mustang Mach-E model year. The first model year, the 2021 Mach-E, was initially met with skepticism but quickly won over critics and experts. The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E won multiple automotive awards and is regarded as the best new electric vehicle of 2021.

The 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E isn’t having as smooth of a year as its predecessor. The 2022 model year is slightly more expensive, though it includes minor performance upgrades. It is under scrutiny because of new Mach-E recalls.

According to Kelley Blue Book, the 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E is expected to start at around $44,000. It should top out at around $65K for the mind-blowingly quick GT Performance Edition. Ford has yet to reveal the 2023 Mustang Mach-E’s release date.

As for specs, the Mach-E has enough range and power to compete in its segment, so don’t expect any drastic improvements to its overall performance. The 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E Select RWD has an estimated 247 miles of driving range. Rounding its estimated driving range up to 250 for the 2023 model year could be a nice touch, but either way, the Mach-E can go the distance. The base model 2022 Mach-E makes 266 horsepower. Not too shabby for its size.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E already delivers on style and performance. Its design is sleek, and the electric SUV looks quick. As for performance, the quickest Mach-E can go from 0-60 in about 3.5 seconds. The Mach-E with the most driving range can travel for an estimated 314 miles.

The electric SUV’s performance specs will be competitive for at least another few years. What the 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E really needs to hone in on is reliability. The electric SUV’s latest large recall could bring its reliability into question for many potential consumers.

The electric SUV that will ultimately become the most popular in its segment will have to offer decent reliability to consumers. No one wants to own an EV that unintentionally accelerates and decelerates or becomes completely immobile at times.

Where does the Ford Mustang Mach-E rank among electric SUVs?

U.S. News and World Report considers the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5 as better electric SUVs than the Ford Mustang Mach-E. That being said, the Mach-E is clearly still in the running and competing with segment leaders.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E is here to stay. It will play an important role in the electric future. If Ford handles all the software bugs and battery issues before releasing the 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E, the electric SUV should be primed to have a great sales year.
