2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E Trims: Want, Get, Pass
The Blue Oval is going electric. The historic American automaker currently produces two electric vehicles that are leading the charge to electrification for its portfolio of vehicles. The Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck and Ford Mustang Mach-E small electric SUV are paving the way for future Ford battery electric vehicles. The Mach-E has plenty to offer, but which configurations should you want, get, and pass on? Here’s a breakdown of 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E trims.
Ford Mustang Mach-E configurations
2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E Models | Starting MSRP |
Ford Mustang Mach-E Select | $42,995 |
Ford Mustang Mach-E Premium | $46,995 |
Ford Mustang Mach-E California Route 1 | $56,995 |
Ford Mustang Mach-E GT | $59,995 |
A total of four trim levels may not seem like a wide variety of options, but Ford has several different types of drivers covered with these four configurations. Which is the most desirable?
Ford Mustang Mach-E GT: Want
Well, those who want the most driving range will opt for the California Route 1 trim. It gets a massive 312 miles of estimated driving range. Thus far, Ford’s driving range estimates have actually been conservative, which is rare in the EV space. So, the California Route 1 is the configuration to want for some drivers, but realistically, most drivers will want the most exciting iteration if they could choose any model.
The Mustang Mach-E GT is the trim to want of all 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E trims because of its acceleration. It goes from 0-60 miles per hour in just 3.8 seconds thanks to its dual electric motor powertrain setup. The Mach-E GT makes a massive 480 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque.
Starting at $59,995, the 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E GT comes standard with a soft vinyl-wrapped steering wheel, a wireless charging pad, and multi-color ambient lighting. Additionally, it features standard heated front-row seats, a 360-degree camera, and heated side mirrors with LED turn signal indicators.
Mustang Mach-E Select: Get
The 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E Select is the trim to get because it’s affordable, has great standard features, and offers good specs for the money. It makes 266 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque. The Mach-E Select can travel for an estimated 250 miles.
The Mach-E Select comes standard with One-Pedal Drive, Ford’s Phone as a Key feature, and a universal garage door opener. Furthermore, it features front console and cargo area powerpoints, ActiveX seating material, and rear parking sensors.
Pass on the Ford Mustang Mach-E Premium and California Route 1
Consumers should pass on the Mach-E Premium because the Select base model comes with plenty of great standard features. Both models have the same standard driving range. The Mach-E Select is the better buy over the California Route 1 thanks to Ford’s new charging deal with Tesla.
While Mustang Mach-E California Route 1s have incredible driving range, once EV charging infrastructure improves, range won’t matter as much. The Mustang Mach-E Select is the best of all 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E trims to get for the money for the average driver.
