Not again! After waiting for months to hear about the Ford Ranger Raptor, it’s still better in other countries such as Australia. The 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor will offer more power elsewhere because the engine is detuned in America.
How much power does the 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor have?
The 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor gained the 3.0-liter V6 engine from the Ford Explorer ST. But before you get your hopes up, the Ranger Raptor won’t reach 400 hp. Instead, the engine was detuned.
In America, the twin-turbo engine is reduced to 288 hp and 491 lb-ft of torque. The old Ranger Raptor provides 210 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque, so it still has a considerable increase. However, according to CarBuzz, the Ranger Raptor will provide 392 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque in Australia.
We hope the more powerful engine will be available in the United States, but only time will tell. Also, European countries have the optional bi-level turbo diesel engine. In the United States, the engine will be paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. We aren’t sure if the six-speed manual transmission will be offered here.
The 2022 Ford Ranger has a 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine with 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. Specs for the 2023 Ford Ranger haven’t been released, but at least the new Ranger Raptor should have more power.
Does the 2023 Ranger Raptor have off-roading upgrades?
Yes, the 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor is ready to tackle the trails. The new graphite-iron cylinder block is 75 percent stronger and stiffer than the iron used in traditional castings. Plus, it has the anti-lag system from the Ford GT for rapid boost on demand.
The new Ranger Raptor uses next-generation FOX 2.5-inch Live Valve internal bypass shock absorbers with position-sensitive damping. The shocks are filled with Teflon-infused oil to reduce friction by 50 percent compared to the outgoing model.
Plus, it has specific mounts and reinforcements and specific frames for the shock towing and other elements. The chassis is reinforced to handle extreme conditions, and the suspension system primarily consists of aluminum to save weight.
The 2023 Ranger Raptor has an active exhaust system, allowing you to control how loud it is. You can select Quiet, Normal, Sport, or Baja mode with a button on the steering wheel. We assume that Baja mode is the loudest option.
Three on-road driving modes include Normal, Sport, and Slippery. The four off-roading modes are Rock Crawl, Sand, Mud/Ruts, and Baja.
Does the Ranger Raptor have nice features?
The 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor should be comfortable with modern amenities. It has a 12.4-inch digital gauge cluster, a 12-inch touchscreen, and a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system. We hope it has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto too.
Based on photos of the interior, the Ranger Raptor seems to be well-crafted with high-quality materials. It includes a leather-wrapped sports steering wheel, and the dash is covered with soft-touch materials. Code Orange accents provide a sportier look.
In Europe, the new Ford Ranger Raptor deliveries will start in the late summer. But Americans won’t get this truck until sometime next year. Pricing hasn’t been officially revealed, but the Ranger Raptor is expected to start at about $52,500. We will keep you updated as we learn more.
