2023 Genesis Electrified GV70: Low Range Isn’t a Problem
We got to spend even more time with the Genesis Electrified GV70 this week for a premium experience. It was time to push this luxury SUV to its limits by putting its range to the test. While the 2023 Genesis Electrified GV70 doesn’t have the most range, it will last for miles and miles.
How much range does the 2023 Genesis Electrified GV70 have?
The Genesis Electrified GV70 gets an EPA-estimated 236 miles of range per charge. It has a 77.4-kWh battery pack and a standard fast onboard charger that can support 240kW with a DC charger.
We know that 236 sounds a little short, but the average driver travels less than 30 miles per day, so one charge provides days of range.
That’s also enough range for two to three-hour road trips depending on the terrain and your driving style. Also, Edmunds expects the range to exceed EPA estimates, like the similar Electric GV60.
Plus, you can make that charge last. We drove the Electric Genesis GV70 with under 20 miles of charge around town for errands without any range anxiety. If you drive in Eco Mode and brake regeneration level 3, you can maintain steady power.
The active grill shutters adjust the aerodynamics, and the GV70 feels a bit slower, but you can actually see the amount of range you have increase. On some trips, we gained about three to four miles instead of dropping the charge.
Sometimes electric vehicles can feel heavy and bogged down while in Eco Mode or while using the highest regenerative braking settings. But the GV70 still felt sporty, with plenty of instant torque to get off the line.
The most power is regained while traveling under 40 miles per hour and while making frequent stops at stop signs and traffic lights. So, this makes the electric GV70 perfect for errands around town, and you don’t need to worry about losing range in traffic jams.
How quickly does the 2023 Electrified GV70 charge?
The 2023 Genesis Electrified GV70 can be charged from about 10 to 80% in roughly 18 minutes with the use of a 350-kWh DC fast charging station. With a Level 2 charger, it takes around 7 hours and 40 minutes for a full charge.
You can plug the onboard charging cable into a regular 120-volt household outlet, but that only adds about a mile or two of range per hour. The cable comes standard with the electric 2023 GV70
Also, the built-in navigation system displays the closest charging stations and can help you plan your route. The battery preconditioning system warms the battery as you get closer to your preselected charging station to provide faster charging times.
With the use of a Level 2 charging station, we charged the battery from 10 to 150 miles in just under an hour. Also, we took a 126-mile trip with 160 miles of range and ended up with 36 miles left.
How much power does the Genesis EV GV70 have?
The 2023 Genesis Electrified GV70 generates 429 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 4.5 seconds. Hit the Boost Mode button on the steering wheel for an additional 58 hp for 10 seconds. This allows the HP to go up to 483.
Plus, the Genesis GV70 camera system scans the road, so the adaptive suspension can automatically adjust to dampen upcoming dips and potholes in the road. It provides a smooth ride over the pavement with responsive handling and confident corning.
The Sport Mode+ driving mode has the snappiest response times, and Sport Mode is a little more relaxed. Comfort Mode feels a bit softer for a more laid-back driving style, and Eco Mode has the slowest response times.
Also, Custom Mode makes it easy to mix and match your favorite features. For example, you can combine the braking style from Comfort Mode with the acceleration of Sport+ Mode in seconds.
The 2023 Genesis Electrified GV70 stands out because of its athletic nature, intelligent design, reliable electric range, simple customization, and comfort. It charges quickly and eliminates range anxiety.
