Luxury automaker Genesis is soon launching a full lineup of electric vehicles. Its first one will arrive sometime in 2022 in the form of the 2023 Genesis GV60. Details have been revealed for the Korea-market version that we can assume will be the same or very similar to the North American version. The GV60 looks like a powerful electric crossover capable of anything the competition can bring. The electric vehicle giant, Tesla, has a crossover SUV as well. Will the new Genesis CUV be enough to stand up to the Model X? This is the 2023 Genesis GV60 vs. the Tesla Model X: which has the longest range?

Is the Genesis GV60 range longer than the Tesla Model X?

We already know from experience what we’re getting with the Tesla Model X. It’s been around for a few years, has had countless tests, and all the information is available for the 2021 model year. The Genesis GV60 is just entering the market, so a lot is unknown. Particularly the EPA-estimated range for the US version of the vehicle is still completely unknown. It likely won’t become available until much closer to production.

What we do know are the estimates for the Korean market. The rear-wheel-drive version offers the most range at 280 miles. All-wheel drive drops the number to 249 miles, and the performance version of the GV60 goes down to 229 miles. Though these numbers aren’t bad, they aren’t quite as much as a few competitors.

The Tesla Model X has two different variants, the Long Range and Plaid. The Long Range variant can cover 360 miles on a single battery charge. The Plaid Model X drops that number down to 340 miles. Three hundred forty miles is quite impressive for a vehicle that can go 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds. The Model X is performance-heavy but lacks in luxury and interior features compared to other SUVs of the same class. Not to mention there is no cheaper, slower trim level, so it is very expensive. The cheapest Tesla Model X starts at $94,690, and the powerful Plaid version can be had for a whopping $114,690.

Is the GV60 more luxurious?

We’re not sure if the GV60 is more luxurious or not. It really depends on how you define luxury in a vehicle. Though, what we do know is that it is chock full of great features that any owner would love. The GV60 has available facial recognition software that can unlock and start the car without a key when combined with fingerprint readers on the door and dashboard. It has a convenient three different powertrains available, ranging from 225 to 429 horsepower. It also comes with all of Hyundai’s latest Advanced Driver Assistance Systems that are already found in other Genesis vehicles.

The GV60 can make fake engine sounds

One of the most unique features, we think, are the fake engine sounds. Owners can choose from several different types of engine noises to produce from the vehicle. One simulates a fake electric motor sound, another gives a sporty engine noise, and the last is a “futuristic” sound. We’d have to hear the different sounds to really know how cool this is, or isn’t. Every detail of the GV60 is not available yet, so we aren’t sure of the level of luxuriousness it will provide. There is a real chance that it outshines the expensive Tesla Model X.

The answer to the question of which of these vehicles has a longer range is the Tesla Model X. While the Genesis GV60 brings a lot to the table from luxury to plenty of options, it does not reach Tesla’s crossover in the range category. Car and Driver first uncovered the valuable battery range and horsepower information. Tesla has been at it for years and has placed a heavy focus on increasing battery range. Once some of these other automakers get more time manufacturing EVs, they will definitely begin to catch up. The sharp-looking Genesis GV60 will be available late into 2022.
