In advance of this, GMC revealed a “Shock and Awe” sneak peek video of the 2024 GMC Sierra EV pickup truck, which shows views of the front of the luxurious Denali trim. When will the GMC Sierra EV pickup truck be available?
GMC has not yet announced an official release date for the 2024 GMC Sierra EV pickup truck. However, the automaker stated that the Sierra electric truck will debut in 2022. GMC also noted that production of the Sierra EV truck will start in early 2023. According to Forbes, the EV truck will be released in 2023 as a 2024 model. The Sierra EV will be built at GM’s Factory Zero plant in Detroit-Hamtramck alongside the Hummer EV.
How much do we expect the 2024 GMC Sierra electric truck to cost?
The price information is not yet available for the 2024 GMC Sierra electric pickup truck. However, the base model of the Sierra EV will likely cost around $50,000 – $60,000. GMC indicated that the Sierra EV will be a more workaday and affordable truck than the 2022 Hummer EV Pickup, which has a starting price of $79,995 MSRP.
GMC has not yet released the full list of trims for the Sierra electric truck, other than the Denali trim that it showed in the “Shock and Awe” sneak peek reveal video. The GMC Sierra 1500 shares the same body and mechanical components as the Silverado 1500, but with a more upscale design with more luxurious amenities, especially for the interior. The 2024 GMC Sierra EV and 2024 Chevy Silverado EV pickup trucks will likely follow this setup in a similar fashion.
With the “Shock and Awe” sneak peek video this week, GMC only revealed the front of the Sierra Denali EV. With the bold front end, striking L-shaped lights, and directional turn signals, the Sierra EV looks similar to the Chevy Silverado EV. Like the Hummer EV, the Sierra EV has lights that illuminate a large logo on the grille.
2024 GMC Sierra electric truck expected specs: Driving range, battery, and charging
GMC hasn’t yet released the complete specs for the 2024 Sierra electric pickup truck, such as power output, towing capacity, acceleration, and MPGe efficiency ratings. However, the Sierra EV will likely offer small and large versions of the Ultium battery. With the small battery, the Sierra EV will probably have a driving range of 200+ miles. With the large battery, which could have a 200 kWh capacity, the driving range of the Sierra electric truck might be around 400 miles. The Sierra EV will have fast-charging capabilities.
