The Honda Accord and Toyota Camry are longtime rivals in the midsize sedan segment. Both have positive attributes, but in 2023, the Accord made a giant leap forward. The 2023 Honda Accord has one significant advantage over the 2023 Toyota Camry: an excellent redesign.

Unlike the 2023 Toyota Camry, the 2023 Honda Accord has a redesign

The Camry has dominated the Accord on the sales charts in recent years. So, Honda revamped its midsize sedan to make it more competitive. The Japanese automaker succeeded with the impressive redesign of the 2023 Honda Accord.

If you like the newest and freshest look in the automotive world, consider the 2023 Accord. Conversely, the 2023 Toyota Camry is a carryover model with no significant changes. The Camry hasn’t had a full redesign in five years.

The next-generation Accord features an eye-catching design that’s sporty yet elegant. Notable exterior styling elements include an upright grille, blacked-out LED headlights, horizontal LED straight-line taillights, and a flowing fastback roofline. Also, the sides of the midsize sedan have distinctive upper character lines.

The attractive styling extends into the cabin, boasting a modern and upscale styling. It’s also comfortable, especially with the new body-stabilizing seats, which the Camry doesn’t offer.

The 2023 Accord has a roomier interior than the Camry

Another aspect of the 2023 Honda Accord redesign is the size increase. It’s larger than the outgoing model, resulting in a roomier interior. The new Accord provides more total passenger space (105.7 cubic feet) than the 2023 Toyota Camry (100.4 cubic feet) and all other mainstream midsize sedans. It also has class-leading rear legroom (40.8 inches). In comparison, the Camry provides 38 inches.

Furthermore, the Accord features a spacious trunk. It has a cargo capacity of 16.7 cubic feet, which is also best-in-class. However, the Camry provides only 15.1 cubic feet of trunk space. So, not only can you and your passengers enjoy a more comfortable ride in the Accord with its roomy interior and body-stabilizing seats, but you’ll also have more space for your gear.

Other strengths of the Honda midsize sedan over its Toyota rival

In addition to its stylish new design and roomier interior, the 2023 Honda Accord has other strengths over the Camry. The Accord’s cabin is more upscale, especially in the higher trims. It has a more premium look and feel, with a liberal use of high-quality materials.

Also, Honda updated the 2023 Accord’s technology. Upgrades include a more capable infotainment system and an optional 12.3-inch touchscreen. In contrast, the largest infotainment screen for the Camry is 9.0 inches. Plus, the Accord has more speakers for its available sound system. It offers a 12-speaker Bose premium sound system, while the Camry has a nine-speaker JBL system.

In addition, Honda added new safety-enhancing driver-assistance systems to its midsize sedan. They include traffic jam assist, which the Camry doesn’t offer.

With its excellent redesign, the 2023 Honda Accord has a huge advantage over the 2023 Toyota Camry. That’s a crucial factor when shopping for a new midsize sedan.
