2023 Honda Accord Redesign and Changes: Edmunds Shares Predictions
The Honda Accord is being redesigned for the 2023 model year and marks the start of the Accord’s 11th generation. Edmunds shared its predictions for the 2023 Honda Accord’s release date, pricing, specs, features, and engine options.
This midsize sedan will likely follow in the footsteps of its smaller sibling—the 11th-gen Civic—which saw a complete redesign for 2022 but still stayed loyal to a tried-and-true recipe.
How much will the 2023 Honda Accord cost?
Honda is coming out with a brand-new Accord, but the company hasn’t released official pricing for the new model yet. Edmunds predicts that the 2023 Honda Accord will cost close to the model’s current starting price of $27,135.
However, with inflation, supply chain issues, and rising car prices across the board, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the 2023 Accord start closer to $30,000.
What’s likely to change, and what may stay the same
The 2023 Accord will be the first model in the new 11th generation for this iconic nameplate, and while it will be fully redesigned, it’s likely to keep the same bones. That means we may see some minor changes to the foundation, but Edmunds says not to “expect anything revolutionary on the outside.”
Edmunds anticipates that new headlights, simpler taillights, and a redesigned shoulder line will appear on the new 2023 model but doesn’t speculate on many other significant changes. This midsize sedan may be the epitome of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” The design is working, so Honda isn’t likely to make any big changes right now.
We’re even more in the dark when it comes to the interior, though Edmunds assumes that the 2023 Accord will retain its typical trim levels: Accord LX, Sport, EX-L, and Touring. Honda’s popular sedan will likely continue to offer premium options on its higher trim levels, including leather seats, heated seats, better sound systems, and top tech features.
Edmunds predicts that the all-new Accord will borrow interior decoration from the redesigned 2022 Civic sedan.
Anticipated powertrain changes and specs in the 2023 Honda Accord
Edmunds expects that the 2023 Accord will likely have the same general powertrain options as the 2022 Accord sedan. Base models come standard with a 192-horsepower 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine and a CVT, while some trim levels offer a 252-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The Accord’s hybrid powertrain runs on a 212-horsepower 2.0-liter engine and two electric motors.
These numbers will most likely stay the same; new Accord powertrains may be more efficient than the previous generation. They may even be a little more powerful, but not by much.
Will the 2023 Honda Accord have all-wheel drive?
We won’t know if there will be an all-wheel drive 2023 Accord until Honda releases official details and specs. Neither Edmunds nor MotorBiscuit are holding out hope. Though some of the Accord’s competitors offer standard all-wheel drive (the Subaru Legacy) and others offer all-wheel drive as an option (Kia K5 and Toyota Camry), the 2023 model is unlikely to.
We may never see an all-wheel drive Accord, but this midsize sedan offers plenty of capability without it.
When will the 2023 Accord be available?
We do not have a formal release date for the 2023 Accord yet, but Edmunds estimates that the 2023 Honda Accord will arrive at the end of 2022. We anticipate seeing the all-new 11th-gen Accord unveiled by mid-summer. If so, the newest sedan would likely be available for sale a few months later.
