You won’t find many midsize sedans better than the 2023 Honda Accord. The base model is affordable, and more expensive Accord trims offer luxurious upgrades. Here’s a look at the 2023 Honda Accord trims, including the one that goes home with the most customers.

Honda offers six Accord trims, and most are hybrids. The base model is the LX, starting at $27,295. It’s followed by the EX, retailing for $29,060. The LX and EX have a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gas-powered engine. Then there’s the Sport Hybrid, which starts at $31,345. As the name implies, it has a hybrid powertrain. It also has a 12.3-inch touchscreen and other upgrades.

The EX-L Hybrid is the next Accord trim, starting at $32,990. This option brings a few luxurious features, such as leather upholstery and heated front seats. After that is the Sport-L Hybrid. Starting at $33,325, it rides on upgraded 19-inch wheels. Finally, the top trim is the Accord Touring Hybrid. For its base MSRP of $37,340, it adds even more high-end features, including a head-up display and a 12-speaker premium sound system.

What 2023 Honda Accord trim do most customers want?

Of the half-dozen trims, most Accord shoppers choose the EX, according to Edmunds data. This trim is similar to the base model but adds a few useful features. For example, the standard model has single-zone automatic climate control, whereas the EX gets a dual-zone system. 

Though both trims have cloth seats, the EX has heated front seats, and the driver’s seat has 10-way power adjustability. As for tech, both have a 7.0-inch touchscreen and a 10.2-inch digital gauge cluster display. However, the EX boasts an eight-speaker sound system — double the number of speakers in the base model. 

Also, both trims offer almost the same number of smart safety features. That said, the EX provides the option to add blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert systems. Plus, the EX has a sunroof; the standard Accord does not.

Because the 2023 Honda Accord EX adds all those features for only $2,000 more than the base model, it’s not surprising that most shoppers choose the second trim level.

Experts recommend another trim

Although the EX is the most popular 2023 Honda Accord trim, it’s not what most trusted car experts prefer. For example, Edmunds picks the EX-L Hybrid, and Car and Driver reviewers agree. Both sources recommend the same trim for similar reasons. The standard engine makes 192 hp, while the hybrid powertrain is more potent, harnessing 204 hp. 

Because it’s a hybrid, it’s also more fuel efficient, achieving about 50 mpg combined — much better than the standard engine’s 33 mpg. The EX-L Hybrid trim also adds many helpful features that make it worth its nearly $33,000 starting price, including front and rear parking sensors. In addition, it rides on 17-inch wheels, giving this model a more comfortable ride than the trims with 19-inch wheels.
