We’re still celebrating the new Honda CR-V. It’s an incredibly popular SUV that’s back with fresh looks and updated features to battle rivals such as the Toyota RAV4 and Hyundai Tucson. While multiple options are available, the 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid is seemingly the best way to go.

Why is the 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid the best option?

According to AutoBlog, the 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid is the best model to buy because it’s actually new. The gas-powered model uses the same 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine as the outgoing generation.

It cranks out 190 hp and 179 lb-ft of torque. But the peak torque arrives faster and could result in a peppier acceleration. The 2022 model can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 8.2 seconds. It’s fine for daily commutes but not exactly exciting.

The CR-V Hybrid uses a 2.0-liter inline-four engine and two electric motors to churn out 204 hp and 247 lb-ft of torque. It features more power than the 2022 Hybrid. The 2022 model can reach 60 mph in 7.5 seconds, and the new hybrid could be even faster.

How much does the 2023 CR-V Hybrid cost?

The 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid price starts at about $33,695, which isn’t bad. The entry-level gas-powered model begins at around $32,355. So, it’s only about $1,340 more to upgrade for more power and efficiency.

But you have to upgrade to the sport Touring Hybrid model to gain all-wheel drive. It increases the price to around $39,845.

However, the fuel savings could cover the difference. The regular Honda CR-V gets an EPA-estimated 28 mpg in the city and up to 34 mpg on the highway.

The CR-V Hybrid gets an EPA-estimated 44 mpg in the city and up to 36 mpg on the highway. Adding AWD may reduce these figures by one or two miles per gallon.

Plus, the hybrid system has been tuned to provide a better performance. The gear switches and transition between hybrid energy and gas feel smoother and more natural. The acceleration is more engaging, and it doesn’t slow down too quickly or have soft brakes, like other hybrids.

Also, the hybrid setup is a bit more refined. It provides a quieter performance without droning on. The steering and handling are pretty direct for a more athletic experience.

Does the CR-V Hybrid have enough value?

The 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid feels like a bargain with leather-wrapped surfaces, a darned sport appearance package, USB ports in the rear, dual-zone climate control, 18-inch wheels, heated seats, and ambient lighting.

You have to upgrade to the Sport Touring model to access the hybrid powertrain with a power lift-gate, wireless charging pad, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, 19-inch wheels, leather upholstery, built-in navigation, parking sensors, and a Bose premium audio system.

Standard safety features include blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision mitigation, lane-keeping assistance, and adaptive cruise control.

The Hybrid starts off as a great deal but can get expensive in a hurry. But it also provides more power, a smoother experience, and saves tons of fuel.
