Alright, y’all, it’s time to go back and give the Honda CR-V Hyrbid another look because it has a few advantages over the gas-powered model. It’s also a pretty elite contender in its segment, with rivals such as the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid and Kia Sportage Hybrid. Check out how well the 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid performs.

What is the 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid mpg?

The 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid gets an EPA-estimated 43 mpg on the highway and up to 36 mpg in the city. This is when your model is equipped with 2WD. Adding all-wheel drive only reduces these figures to 40 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway.

There really isn’t much compromise for adding more capability. AWD makes the vehicle heavier, which is why it can impact the fuel economy.

With the 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, you get an EPA-estimated 41 mpg in the city and up to 38 mpg on the highway. It has standard AWD, which is a nice perk.

The 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid rings in with an EPA-estimated 42 mpg on the highway and up to 44 mpg in the city. Adding AWD reduces these figures to 38 mpg on the highway and in the city.

How much power does the 2023 CR-V Hybrid have?

The 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid uses a 2.0-liter inline-four engine that’s paired with two electric motors that work to generate 204 hp and 247 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in roughly 7.5 seconds.

With the ICE Honda CR-V, you get a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 190 hp and 179 lb-ft of torque. It takes about 8.7 seconds to reach 60 mph. But the CR-V Hybrid can only tow up to 1,000 lbs, while the regular model can tow up to 1,500 lbs.

The 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid used a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with two electric motors to crank out 219 hp and 252 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 7.4 seconds and can tow up to 1,750 lbs.

Also, the 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid features a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with one electric motor to provide 277 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. It reaches 60 mph in nearly 7.4 seconds and tows up to 2,000 lbs.

The Honda CR-V Hybrid has a smooth ride and seamless power delivery. Fox News shared that it’s difficult to notice when the SUV automatically switches between gas, electric, and combined driving modes.

The driving modes include Eco, Normal, Sport, and Snow. Sport provides a noticeable boost in response times and stiffer handling. Eco mode is the most relaxed option.

Does the CR-V Hybrid have enough value?

The 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid starts at $32,400. We know this may seem a little high at first, but it serves as the CR-V Sport trim. The Hybrid engine is paired with the third model in the lineup. It’s available with the top-spec Sport Touring trim too.

With the Sport, you get roof rails, a dark appearance package, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual rear USB ports, dual automatic climate control, heated front seats, a sunroof, heated side mirrors, a 7.0-inch infotainment screen, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.

That standard CR-V starts at $28,410, so it’s only about $3,990 for more power, fuel savings, and extra comfort features. It hangs with rivals but offers more cargo space, passenger room, quality, and ride comfort.
