We might not recognize the Honda HR-V after gaining one attractive makeover. The 2023 Honda HR-V is changing the small SUV game with enormous style and tons of value in a convenient, affordable package.

2023 Honda CR-V: What’s new?

The 2023 Honda CR-V is being redesigned to feature a brand new look. But we only have teaser images to speculate about. The Honda HR-V will look different from the version sold in Europe, which is an interesting move.

Rivals such as the Hyundai Kona, Kia Seltos, and Mazda CX-30 should be nervous as the HR-V increases its appeal with a modern new look. However, we hope the new Honda HR-V gains a more desirable powertrain as well.

According to Car and Driver, instead of having a full-width taillight like the European HR-V, the American model features two separate units. The body also seems to have sharper lines than the European model.

How much power does the 2023 HR-V have?

The 2023 Honda HR-V hybrid trim might not be available in America. So, we are a bit jealous of the European model. The United States is expected to only receive internal-combustion options at first. It could gain engines from the Honda Civic.

With the 2022 Honda Civic, you get a standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 158 hp and 138 lb-ft of torque. You can upgrade to the turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 180 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque.

The 2022 Honda HR-V comes with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that cranks out 141 hp and 127 lb-ft of torque. Both of the Civic engines would provide an upgrade. The HR-V can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 10.4 seconds.

This speed is slower than rivals but is adequate for driving on flat surfaces. It may feel sluggish as you pass others on the highway. But on a positive note, the HR-V has responsive handling and limited body roll for a fun and confident performance on curvy roads.

The HR-V currently features a loud, whiney engine and vibrates upon acceleration. These are the most significant issues that need to be addressed.

Will the 2023 HR-V have interior upgrades?

Yes, the 2023 Honda HR-V features a total interior redesign. It probably has a lot in common with the Honda Civic. The layout is simple, attractive, and sophisticated for an upscale feeling. Also, the Honda Magic seat that allows the rear bench to fold nearly flat will probably stick around.

The current HR-V features a 7-inch infotainment screen, so it’s safe to expect a larger unit. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto should come standard. But we hope that the HR-V will offer wireless connectivity.

Other options may include built-in navigation, a wireless phone charging pad, a head-up display, a digital gauge cluster, onboard Wi-Fi, and SiriusXM radio.

Key safety features include standard automated emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assistance, and adaptive cruise control. The 2023 model could gain more features such as blind-spot warning or rear-cross traffic alert.

You don’t have to wait much longer to see the new Honda HR-V. It will be revealed on April 4, and we can’t wait to report on all of its updates.
