The new 2023 Hyundai Kona, Kona Electric, and Kona N will likely be available in late Summer/early Fall 2022. These models will be available at Hyundai dealerships throughout the United States and in select international markets.

How much does the 2023 Hyundai Kona cost?

Hyundai didn’t yet release the price information for the new 2023 Hyundai Kona, Kona Electric, and Kona N crossover SUV. However, the 2023 Kona will likely cost slightly more than the 2022 Kona. The starting price of the standard 2022 Kona ranges from $21,300 MSRP for the SE trim up to $28,600 MSRP for the Limited trim. 

For the 2022 Kona Electric, the starting price is $34,000 MSRP for the SEL trim and $42,500 MSRP for the Limited trim. Also, the high-performance Kona N, which offers just one trim, has a starting price of $34,200 MSRP.

2023 Kona specs: Engine options, 0-60 mph time, and gas mileage

The standard 2023 Hyundai Kona crossover SUV offers two engine options: a 2.0-liter four-cylinder (147 horsepower) and a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder (195 horsepower). All Kona N models feature a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, which generates 276 horsepower. Last, but not least is the Kona Electric, which has a 201-hp electric motor. 

For acceleration, the Kona N is the quickest model in the lineup. For Car and Driver testing, it has a 0-60 mph time of 4.8 seconds, compared to 6.6 seconds for the standard Kona and 6.4 seconds for the Kona Electric.

On the efficiency front, the standard Kona has an estimated gas mileage of up to 30 city/35 highway mpg, while the Kona N has a fuel economy of up to 20 city/27 highway. Also, the Kona Electric has an estimated fuel efficiency rating of up to 120 combined MPGe. Additionally, the Kona Electric provides an estimated driving range of 258 miles on a full charge.

The standard Kona model offers a choice of a front-wheel drive or a traction-enhancing all-wheel drive system. However, the Kona N and Kona Electric only come equipped with front-wheel drive. Also, none of the Kona models are rated for towing.

What’s new for the 2023 Kona?

The 2023 Kona is a carryover model. However, the crossover SUV has some feature upgrades across the trim lineup. This includes newly available over-the-air (OTA) map updates. Also, a few driving assistance features — blind-spot collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance-assist, and safe exit warning — are now standard for all Kona models.

Also, for warranty coverage, the 2023 Kona has the backing of a 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty and a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty. Additionally, the Kona offers a free maintenance plan, with three years or 36,000 miles of coverage.
