2023 Kia Seltos Has 1 Big Strength Over Toyota Corolla Cross
Are you considering whether to get behind the wheel of either the Kia Seltos or the Toyota Corolla Cross? There’s much to like about both subcompact crossover SUVs. However, the 2023 Kia Seltos has one giant strength over the 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross: better warranty coverage.
2023 Kia Seltos has better warranty coverage than the 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross
Warranty coverage is a crucial factor to consider when choosing which crossover SUV to buy. Longer warranty coverage translates to greater peace of mind and less costly repairs. Parts replacement and repairs are a significant cost of vehicle ownership. And if your crossover SUV is still under warranty, you’ll be less likely to take a financial hit.
For warranty coverage, the 2023 Kia Seltos has one of the best in the automotive industry. It’s much more generous than what the 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross offers. All Seltos models have a 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty and a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty. In comparison, the Corolla Cross only has a 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty.
With its better warranty coverage, the repair costs during the duration of one’s vehicle ownership will likely be lower for the Seltos compared to the Corolla Cross. Once the mileage and time periods end for the Corolla Cross, owners will have to cover the cost of repairs and parts replacement that were previously covered under the warranties. However, for the Seltos, owners will still be covered.
Other ways the 2023 Seltos is better than the 2023 Corolla Cross
In addition to its longer warranty coverage, there are some other ways the 2023 Kia Seltos is better than the 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross. This includes more passenger space. Both crossover SUVs can seat up to five passengers — but the Seltos has a maximum passenger volume of 99 cu-ft, while the Corolla Cross offers up to 95 cu-ft.
Also, the Seltos provides considerably more space for the rear seat passengers. It has 38 inches of rear legroom, compared to 32 inches for the Corolla Cross. Plus, unlike in the Corolla Cross, you can recline in the rear seats of the Seltos.
Another advantage for the Seltos is its maneuverability. This is primarily due to its tighter turning circle. With its greater maneuverability compared to the Corolla Cross, the Seltos can more effectively drive around corners, navigate traffic, back up, and park.
Furthermore, there are features in the Seltos that are not available for the Corolla Cross. This includes a remote start system, a driver alert monitor, a rear seat reminder, and a GPS navigation system with real-time updates.
Kia Seltos has a refreshed design for 2024 — but the Toyota Corolla Cross will likely be a carryover model
Those willing to wait a little longer can get the 2024 Seltos, which has a refreshed design and feature upgrades. Kia did not yet give an official release date. However, the 2024 Seltos is expected to be available sometime during the first half of 2023. Conversely, the Corolla Cross will likely be a carryover model for the 2024 model year.
For the exterior, the 2024 Seltos has a stylish new grille, as well as new wheel designs, lighting elements, and a rear light bar. Inside the crossover SUV, the cabin has a new infotainment system panel with two large touchscreens. And on the performance front, Kia increased the output of the optional turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine to 195 horsepower, which is an increase of 20 hp from the 2023 model. Also, there’s a new off-road model with the rugged X-Line trim.
With its better warranty coverage, the 2023 Kia Seltos has one giant strength over the 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross. For subcompact crossover SUV shoppers choosing between the two vehicles, the warranty coverage is an important thing to keep in mind.
