2023 Kia Sorento Announced With More Features, Higher Price
One SUV that has been growing in popularity is the 2023 Kia Sorento. During the third quarter of 2022, it even managed to outsell its sibling, the well-rounded Telluride. Now, the Sorento is undergoing some changes for the new model year. Unfortunately, it isn’t a complete refresh or redesign, but significant changes are coming nonetheless. Kia just announced the 2023 Kia Sorento, with more features and a higher price.
New 2023 Kia Sorento features for all trims
According to Kia, the new 2023 Sorento has new features for all of its trim levels. This includes the most basic LX model. It gets a roster of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems that’s expanded for the new model year with blind-spot collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, and safe exit assist. For the rest of the lineup, each trim gains previously optional features on all trims.
For example, the EX trim now has an eight-way power passenger seat and a frameless rearview mirror. Next, the SX model now has a 12.3-inch color digital instrument panel, power-folding exterior mirrors, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Finally, the top-of-the-line SX Prestige trim has standard all-wheel drive, gloss black exterior accents, and revised bumpers.
Additionally, other additional features include a 115-volt power inverter for charging household items like laptops. The X-Line package remains available, adding a more rugged look to the Sorento with a unique bumper, exterior details, 20-inch alloy wheels, and a bridge-type roof rack.
How much does a 2023 Kia Sorento cost?
Something more important than the features included with any vehicle is the price. The price of the 2023 Kia Sorento is a little higher than it was for the 2022 model year. However, there isn’t much of a price bump, as the changes aren’t too significant. A slight rise in the price is normal, and something nearly every vehicle in the market sees on an annual basis. Every version of the new Sorento is offered for less than $44,000, but each one requires a $1,295 destination fee.
2023 Kia Sorento trim | Price |
LX | $29,990 |
S | $32,490 |
EX | $35,890 |
SX | $38,790 |
LX AWD | $31,790 |
X-Line S AWD | $34,490 |
X-Line EX AWD | $39,590 |
SX AWD | $40,590 |
SX-Prestige AWD | $43,390 |
X-Line SX-Prestige AWD | $43,590 |
What are the engines and fuel economy?
Next, buyers interested in the new 2023 Kia Sorento will want to know more about the engines. Plus, efficiency is all the rage, and no one wants to buy an SUV that is a gas-guzzler anymore. Thankfully, there are two engine options in the Sorento lineup. First, a 2.5-liter GDI inline four-cylinder with an output of 191 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque is the base engine. However, there’s also a version of the same size engine with a turbo, which produces 281 hp and 311 lb-ft.
Finally, the Kia Sorento lineup isn’t setting any records for fuel economy. However, it’s easily around average for a model of its size and class. Using the base engine and front-wheel drive, it gets 24 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. Swapping to all-wheel drive with the same engine drops those numbers to 23 city and 25 highway. Next, the turbo engine averages 22 mpg in the city and 29 on the highway with FWD. AWD drops it to 21 city and 28 highway mpg.
2023 Kia Sorento: More features, higher price
In conclusion, the 2023 Kia Sorento received a few minor changes for the new model year. It’s got a host of new standard features for each trim level. Additionally, there are new optional features available for all trims. Next, the price increased for all trims, but it isn’t enough that you’ll notice it when setting up your monthly payment. Each Sorento uses the same base or turbo engine as last year, and fuel economy is average for this class of SUVs.
