2023 Kia Sorento PHEV Adds More Advanced Driver Assistance Systems
Kia released more information about its newest Sorento plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), and the news is good. While the 2023 Kia Sorento PHEV release date is still unknown, what Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) are standard?
What Advanced Driver Assistance Systems does the 2023 Kia Sorento PHEV have?
Kia announced the all-new 2023 Kia Sorento PHEV this week. Among the information in the press release, the automaker noted it would only come in the top-of-the-line SX-P trim. Kia describes the interior as upscale and notes that all-wheel drive is standard. If you want the 2023 Kia Sorento plug-in hybrid price, that starts at $49,890 with a $1,295 destination charge.
Regarding Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) on its vehicles, Kia has added everything possible to make the car safer. Some of the ADAS listed as standard include lane following assist, lane keeping assist, and driver attention warning. Forward collision-avoidance assist now comes with junction turning and junction assist, which can help the driver turn in an intersection.
Blind-spot collision avoidance assist and rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist are also standard new technology. The automaker also included safe exit assist and rear occupant alert to keep everyone safe getting in and out of the vehicle. A rear occupant alert will remind the driver if someone is in the back seat.
The 2023 Kia Sorento PHEV has a long list of features
Some of the other technology includes help with highway driving and parking assistance for tight parking lots. The 2023 Kia Sorento PHEV will also come with a blind and surround view monitor to make backing up a breeze. Since there is only one trim level for the 2023 Sorento, everything is included.
Some of the other new features include retractable rear door sunshades and a 115-volt inverter that passengers can use to charge up a laptop or something similar. Kia’s 2023 Sorento plug-in hybrid has 32 miles of all-electric range and can fully charge in about 3.5 hours on a Level 2 home charger. It uses a 1.6T GDI inline-four engine and a 66.9 kW electric motor.
Kia also says the Sorento PHEV offers “the most passenger room and second-row legroom of any PHEV SUV.” The dimensions are 189.0 inches long, 74.8 inches wide, and 66.7 inches high.
The Sorento SUV comes in a gasoline version as well as a standard hybrid
Kia also offers the 2023 Sorento in a regular hybrid vehicle. The Sorento Hybrid will come in an EX trim with front-wheel or all-wheel drive and the SX-P trim. Pricing for the EX FWD is $36,590; the EX AWD starts at $38,390, and the SX-P begins at $42,390. Pricing for the gasoline-only Kia Sorento has not been released yet.
The automaker has not yet announced a release date for the 2023 Kia Sorento PHEV, but that should be available soon. These active safety and driver assistance features, combined with the excellent Kia warranty, make the 2023 Sorento plug-in hybrid a good buy.
