2023 Kia Soul: Overview, Price, and Specs
Kia recently unveiled the details about the 2023 Kia Soul. It has new exterior styling for the front and rear — but drops the turbocharged engine option. Find out what we know so far about the release date, price, and specs of the 2023 Kia Soul.
2023 Kia Soul specs: No more turbo engine
The Kia Soul is ditching the turbocharged engine for the 2023 model year. It now only offers one engine: a 2.0-liter four-cylinder, which generates 147 hp and 132 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). An all-wheel drive system is not offered for the 2023 Soul, as all models come equipped with front-wheel drive.
Kia didn’t yet release the fuel economy estimates for the 2023 Soul. However, given that the 2.0L engine is unchanged for the 2023 model year, it will likely have a similar gas mileage as the 2022 Soul (up to 28 city/33 highway mpg).
Refreshed exterior design for the 2023 Kia Soul
The 2023 Kia Soul has a refreshed exterior design, with new styling for the front and rear. The new front fascia features a new grille with available LED headlights, redesigned fog lights, new daytime running lights, and new turn signals. Also, at the rear, the Soul has a revised rear fascia with new taillights. Additionally, the Soul has new 17- and 18-inch wheel designs.
New exterior paint color options for the 2023 Soul include:
- Surf Blue with a Fusion Black roof
- Clear White with Fusion Black roof
The cabin of the 2023 Soul is mostly the same as the 2022 Soul. The one change, though, is the addition of the 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation. It’s standard for all but the LX trim.
Newly standard driving assistance features for the 2023 Kia Soul
The 2023 Kia Soul raises the bar for safety with its many driving assistance features that are newly standard for all trims. This includes:
- Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist-Pedestrian
- Rear Occupant Alert
- High-Beam Assist
- Lane Departure Warning
- Driver Attention Warning
When will the 2023 Kia Soul be released and available?
As of 9/14/2022, you can build, price, and schedule a test drive of the 2023 Kia Soul on Kia‘s site. It will be available at Kia dealerships throughout the United States, as well as in select international markets. The Kia Soul is built at Kia’s plant in Gwangju, South Korea.
How much does the 2023 Kia Soul cost?
The 2023 Kia Soul has a simplified trim lineup, with a choice of four trims: LX, S, EX, and GT-Line. The Turbo and the X-Line trims from the 2022 Soul are not offered for the 2023 Soul.
The starting price of the 2023 Soul ranges from $19,890 MSRP for the LX trim up to $24,190 MSRP for the Soul EX trim. Compared to the 2022 Soul (starting base price of $19,290 MSRP), the 2023 Soul costs slightly more.
The Kia Soul continues its evolution with its design tweaks for the 2023 model year. Despite the slight price increase, the Soul still offers much value. However, the discontinuation of the turbocharged engine might come as a disappointment to potential Soul buyers that desire greater performance.
