Here’s Why the 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid Is the Sportage to Buy
Are you interested in purchasing the all-new 2023 Kia Sportage? Selecting a suitable trim level can be challenging with any vehicle. However, the sharp new Sportage makes it worse with its excellent offerings. We’re here to tell you that the choice is easy because the 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid is the Sportage to buy, and beats nearly every compact SUV.
Buy a Sportage Hybrid while gas prices soar
Since gas prices are at an all-time high, it’s easy to determine that a hybrid or electric vehicle is an excellent investment. Saving money on fuel is something no one would say no to. Compact SUVs and crossovers are some of the best-selling vehicles on the market. As a result, choosing a hybrid compact SUV is an easy choice. Why not find one that’s been recently overhauled? Like the 2023 Kia Sportage.
Most automakers have launched hybrid versions of their compact SUVs; however, the Sportage stands out from the rest. MotorTrend said it’s different from other options because of its “bold styling and best-in-class fuel economy for the front (wheel) drive model.” Oh, and did we mention the new Sportage is more affordable than its rivals?
The Kia Sportage Hybrid is cheaper
The price is one of the most important factors when buying a new vehicle. Fortunately, the all-new 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid is cheaper than other compact hybrid SUVs. Starting with the LX front-wheel-drive model, the Sportage Hybrid is available for as low as $28,545. Alternatively, the range-topping SX-Prestige AWD version has a price of $37,545.
MT had the opportunity to test the SX-Prestige version, and the publication was impressed. Although the difference in material quality and added technology is significant, any model in the Sportage Hybrid model will suffice. None are of low quality, and all outrank opponents for affordability.
What else you need to know about the 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid
Every model in the lineup comes with a 1.6-liter turbo four-cylinder engine under the hood. Combined with a 44-kW electric motor, the total output is 227 horsepower. Fortunately, the power doesn’t overtake the fuel economy. The Sportage Hybrid gets an EPA-estimated 42 city and 44 highway mpg with FWD. Alternatively, it gets 38 city and 38 highway using the AWD system.
Its front-wheel-drive numbers are class-leading, which is impressive, considering the cheapest Sportage models come with FWD. Affordable, excellent fuel economy is always a positive. While the AWD versions don’t lead the class, they’re still very fuel-efficient. Especially compared to other SUVs and even more to ones that don’t come with a hybrid powertrain.
Sportage Hybrid: Excellent ride quality
Another vital factor for any vehicle is the quality of the ride. How does the 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid drive? MT says it “delivers strong, smooth acceleration, with the electric motor administering instant torque that’s quickly augmented by the turbo’s power.” In short, it packs a punch when starting from a stop and shifts smoothly while driving.
Additionally, MT reported a 0 to 60 time of 7.2 seconds and a quarter-mile result of 15.5 seconds at 90.3 mph. While those numbers won’t set any land speed records, the Sportage Hybrid feels more potent than the numbers indicated. Next, the suspension does an excellent job diverting vibrations away from the cabin, keeping passengers comfortable. Plus, it’s quiet even at highway speeds with an ultra-smooth highway ride.
Sportage Hybrid: Interior
As for the interior, it’s just as high quality as the ride itself. The new generation of Sportage is far better than previous versions. With a broader and longer body than ever before, there’s even more room on the inside. The rear seats are roomy enough for average-sized adults to be comfortable. The cargo space is plentiful, so storage isn’t a problem.
Next, the design of the interior is beautifully unique. MT compared the attention to detail to a luxury SUV, not a Kia that costs under $40,000. Items like the 12.3-inch curved display, unique air vent and door handle designs, and even the dashboard design make the interior look luxurious.
The 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid is the Sportage to buy
In conclusion, those interested in the next-gen 2023 Kia Sportage should opt for the Sportage Hybrid. With all the benefits of the redesigned model, plus a hybrid powertrain, there’s a lot to love. In addition to class-leading fuel economy, the Sportage Hybrid has a smooth ride, punchy engine, and an upscale interior. Not to mention, it’s all available at a lower price than most competitors.
