The entry-level 2023 Kia Stinger packs a powerful punch with plenty of standard features to warrant its affordable price. There are three available trim levels, with the exclusive 2023 Kia Stinger Scorpion Special Edition offering all the bells and whistles to keep drivers and passengers happy.

While the Stinger Scorpion package is impressive, it does not offer much more performance than the GT2 trim, leaving many consumers wondering if it is worth paying $53,000 for the upgrade.

The 2023 Kia Stinger has a three-grade lineup that includes the GT-Line, GT1, and GT2. All models are rear-wheel drive (RWD) with the option of upgrading to all-wheel drive (AWD) for an additional $2,200. The estimated EPA fuel economy combined rating is 25 mpg with RWD, dropping to 24 mpg with AWD.

The GT-Line has an estimated base starting price of $37,955 with the destination fee. AutoTrader notes, “Referring to the GT-Line as the Stinger’s entry-level grade doesn’t seem fitting.” That’s because of its 300 hp 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Highlights of the GT-Line include remote keyless entry, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and rain-sensing wipers. Standard features include integrated turn signals, a 10.25-inch touchscreen display, leather seating, heated front seats, and a 60/40 split rear seat.

The 2023 Kia Stinger GT1 has a base starting price of $45,555, which includes the destination fee. A 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 engine generates a blistering 368 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque. The GT1 can go from 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds and has an estimated EPA combined mileage rating of 20 mpg. Standard features include a power sunroof, interior multi-colored accent lighting, and front passenger 8-way power-adjustable seating.

The top-of-the-line 2023 Kia Stinger GT2 has the same engine setup as the GT1, with an MSRP of $53,155. Upgraded features include electronically controlled adaptive suspension, Dynamic Low-Beam headlight assist, hands-free power rear hatch, LED headlights, Brembo brakes, and a power-adjustable steering wheel. Standard features in the GT2 include Nappa leather seating, power-adjustable heated and ventilated seating, a 360-degree surround-view camera, 720-watt Harman Kardon surround-sound audio system, and a heads-up display.

The GT1 and GT2 trims include a limited-slip rear differential and launch control for maximum acceleration, accounting for most of the price difference with the entry-level GT-Line.

What is the 2023 Kia Stinger Scorpion Special Edition?

The add-on Scorpion Package costs $1,295 and includes black fender trim, 19-inch alloy wheels, and dark exhaust tips. The color options of snow white pearl, ceramic silver, and aurora black give the car a darker hue.

The appearance package was introduced in the 2022 model year and is based on the GT2 trim that includes the above-listed standard features. Though the Scorpion Package does not offer much better performance, if you are all in on the GT2, the extra thousand bucks more might not be a big deal.

If you opt for the 2023 Kia Stinger Scorpion Special Edition, the price tag hovers around $53,000 (before the destination fee).

Car Reviews explains, “the company released the model in a limited batch of only 250 units per month.” So, if you are lucky enough to get your hands on one, this may be the car for you.

What is the best trim?

Built on the same platform as the Genesis G70, the GT-Line offers a lot of bang for the buck with plenty of power for most drivers. For drivers that don’t mind the price jump to the next level, the GT1 offers blazing performance compared to other vehicles in its class.

If you are concerned about fuel economy, the GT-Line is the best option, thanks to its four-cylinder engine that delivers 22 City / 32 Highway / 25 Combined.

The 2023 Kia Stinger received the Top Safety Pick + rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). All trim levels have plenty of standard safety features, but if you are looking for a head-up display or surround-view camera, you will have to bump up to the GT2.

No matter which trim level you choose, the 2023 Kia Stinger offers plenty of value, with Kelley Blue Book noting, “the Stinger pushes the boundaries of what to expect from Kia.”
