Somehow they managed to make the Kia Telluride an even better family SUV. The Telluride has been topping lists as the best option for years, but that doesn’t mean it’s done competing. The 2023 Kia Telluride just gained crucial upgrades to steal even more drivers from rivals. 

2023 Kia Telluride: What’s new? 

The 2023 Kia Telluride can go even further than before, thanks to the addition of the X-Pro Package. For years, the Telluride has provided an excellent ride on the pavement, but now it can keep up with the competition in the wild. 

Opting for the Kia Telluride X-Pro adds 18-inch black wheels wrapped in Continental all-terrain tires, standard all-wheel drive, a 0.4-inch suspension lift, unique suspension tuning, enhanced traction control settings, and a tow mode that conveniently adjusts powertrain settings. 

When off-roading in a 2022 model, the ground clearance was a concern, but now the 2023 Telluride sits 8.4 inches above the ground. It has improved approach and departure angles too. 

Plus, it has an upgraded fan to improve cooling while towing. As a result, the X-Pro can tow up to 5,500 lbs. This is a substantial increase as most folks we’ve spoken to wish the Telluride could tow more. 

Best of all, the suspension tuning provides a better ride quality. The 2022 Telluride has noticeable body roll-around curves, but the 2023 model has more control around sharp bends. 

Does the 2023 Telluride have better tech? 

The 2023 Kia Telluride received a few notable upgrades, even though it already felt advanced and modern. The 10.3-inch center display has been replaced by dual 12.3-inch screens that serve as the digital gauge cluster and infotainment display. 

According to Car and Driver, this setup has a luxury feel and is reminiscent of the tech found in the Cadillac Escalade, BMW iX, and Mercedes-Benz GLS class. Plus, built-in navigation and a Wi-fi hotspot are now standard across the entire lineup. 

The Highway Drive 2 system is standard on the SX model and up. It provides smarter feedback while in adaptive cruise control based on how you drive. It has enhanced reactions to being cut off or when a vehicle encroaches on your lane. 

It also has upgraded forward collision avoidance, evasive steering assist, and semi-automated lane-changing assist. We can’t wait to test how well the new Telluride can change lanes on its own! 

How much does the 2023 Telluride cost? 

The 2023 Kia Telluride price kicks off at $35,690. Moving up to the top-spec SX-P X-Pro model brings the price up to $52,785. Also, the destination fee adds another $1,335 across the board. The 2022 Telluride starts at $33,390, so the $2,300 increase is worth noting. 

Also, adding AWD costs $2,000 unless you select a trim that includes it. But price hikes probably won’t slow the Telluride down. Production is increasing to 120,000 units annually, meaning more people can get behind the wheel. 

Perhaps more supply will limit demand, and prices will come down. However, ongoing supply chain constraints and rising inflation could raise costs. 

Either way, the Telluride continues to dominate as a value-packed family option that’s now safer, has better handling, has off-roading upgrades, better tech, and can tow more.
