It’s weird to think of supercars like the 2023 Lexus LC 500 and Chevrolet C8 Corvette as daily drivers, but they are. I have had the privilege of driving both of these low-slung cars and can attest to their overall comfort and relentless power, which makes them fun to drive every day. Both cars are surprisingly practical as well. To illustrate my points, here is a comparison between the two cars.

2023 Lexus LC 500 vs. Chevrolet C8 Corvette: Battle of the V8 engines

I can’t talk about these cars without addressing their engines first. The 2023 Lexus LC 500 is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine that pushes 471 hp and 398 lb-ft of torque through the rear wheels. The engine is front-mounted and mated to a quick-shifting 10-speed automatic transmission. Needless to say, the LC 500 provides plenty of power throughout the RPM, with a lot of power in the top end.

The 2023 Chevrolet C8 Corvette, on the other hand, is powered by a 6.2-liter V8 engine that generates 490 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. It’s a little more powerful than the LC 500, and that torque can be felt when you’re behind the wheel. The C8 Corvette’s engine works its way up the powerband much quicker, and the power comes on stronger at the top end.

As you can imagine, both engines sound amazing, but I have to give it to the Corvette on this one, as the sportier exhaust gives it a racier edge.

The Lexus LC500 has a more elegant interior than the C8 Corvette

Chevy Corvette fans may not like me for this one, especially considering GM has improved the car’s interior over the years. Also, I will admit that the Corvette’s interior is very nice, with its leather dash, seats, and center console. I even liked the car’s racecar-inspired square steering wheel and the interior’s classy design. However, I much prefer the LC 500’s guts.

The Lexus LC 500’s interior is adorned in Alcantara and leather, as expected. However, the overall design looks a little more elegant. It also feels more spacious and open. The Corvette’s cockpit-style interior looks cool, but I’m not a huge fan of the divider in the center console or the row of buttons on top of it.

The Chevrolet Corvette has a better infotainment system

A major leg up that the Chevrolet Corvette has over the Lexus LC 500 is its infotainment system. The Corvette’s system is easy to navigate and uses wireless Apple CarPlay integration. The sound coming from the Bose speakers is crisp and clear as well.

The Lexus LC 500’s system, on the other hand, is old by comparison. The 10.3-inch infotainment display is controlled by a touchpad on the center console, which is cumbersome to use. The graphics on the onboard navigation system look like they were made by Atari and there’ wireless Apple CarPlay connectivity.

Yes, I’m complaining. But to be fair, Lexus is going to update the LC 500’s infotainment system for 2024, so changes are coming. But for now, the Corvette wins.

The Corvette provides sharper handling than the LC 500

Regarding handling, the Corvette takes the cake. Its mid-mounted engine and adaptive suspension make it feel like a hot blade through butter when pitching the car in tight canyon turns. The front end feels light, and the razor-sharp handling is further accentuated by the sticky tires and magnetic dampers.

The LC 500 feels a little porky in comparison, and although it handles well, it’s not as agile as the Corvette. If the Vette is a hot knife, the LC 500 is a large saw. They both cut well, but it will take the LC a little longer to get the desired result.

The C8 Corvette has more storage options

Most supercar buyers may not care about storage options, but it’s still important. As such, the Corvette wins again with its rear and front trunk solutions. Altogether, the Corvette has 13 cubic feet of space. According to Chevrolet, the rear trunk has enough room for two golf bags stacked on top of each other.

I could fit a decent amount of cargo in the front trunk and a surprising amount of stuff in the rear as well. After all, the Corvette roof is meant to fit back there, so it makes sense that there’s plenty of room.

It’s too bad the same can’t be said for the Lexus LC 500. The LC does not have a front trunk, and its rear trunk is more like a shelf with little space than an actual cargo hold. It measures about five cubic feet, which should tell you a lot.

2023 Lexus LC 500 vs. Chevrolet C8 Corvette: Which supercar should you pick?

If you want a luxury cruising car that can go fast at the drop of a hat, the 2023 Lexus LC 500 is the way to go. But if you need a canyon carver that serves double-duty as a weekend getaway hauler, the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette is up to the task.

The Corvette is much cheaper with its $65,000 starting price. By comparison, the LC 500 starts at around $99,000, so it’s easy to pick between these cars if your budget is a huge factor.

For my money, I would go with the LC 500 for its comfortable interior and mild driving manners. But the C8 Corvette still has it beat in many areas.
