2023 Lexus RX: What We Know About America’s Favorite Luxury SUV
If you think about it, Lexus basically made the family SUV cool. The 2023 Lexus RX luxury SUV is on its way, with a reveal date of May 31, 2022. What information has the automaker released about the popular Lexus sport utility vehicle?
Will the Lexus RX be redesigned in 2023?
The automaker has thoroughly redesigned the 2023 Lexus RX. This Lexus SUV hasn’t received a significant update since 2019, but the automaker has been hard at work behind-the-scenes. While the 2023 RX will probably take some design cues from the new lineup, the basic shape will remain the same.
The front end looks like a modern version of the same RX, with the same aggressive headlights as many new Lexus models. Leaked images of the new vehicle show the badge of a Lexus RX 500h, which is likely the name of the new model. Before the official announcement, what else is known about the Lexus luxury SUV?
2023 Lexus RX will get the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0
Looking at the new Lexus NX, the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 is a likely addition to the 2023 Lexus RX. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says there were 6.3 million reported crashes in 2015. Many of these were avoidable. The Lexus Safety System has four systems to keep drivers and passengers safe. These are Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert, Intelligent High Beams, and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.
Newer versions also include Road Sign Assist and Lane Tracing Assist. LSS+ 3.0 will also add Curve Speed Management added to Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and Additional Intersection Support.
With all of those additions, the 2023 Lexus RX to get the new 14-inch touchscreen used in the NX. The NX was just redesigned for the 2022 model year and gave a good indication of the latest RX.
Keep an eye out for an electric SUV version in the future
Right now, the RX comes in four varieties. The 2022 RX 450h, 450L, 350, and 350L. It isn’t clear yet if a long (L) version is in the works for the 2023 Lexus RX. The automaker has previously announced a longer version of the Toyota Highlander SUV, which might make a long RX obsolete.
Additionally, Lexus and Toyota have big plans for the future electric vehicle lineup. The 2023 Toyota bZ4X looks a bit like the RX, but a larger version is to be expected. That could mean a 2024 Lexus RX electric SUV of some kind. Lexus already announced the 2023 Lexus RZ 450e SUV, but what could be under wraps still?
Either way, keep an eye out for the release of the 2023 Lexus RX. The SUV market isn’t easy to crack right now, but Lexus and Toyota always have something up their sleeves.
