In recent years, iconic sports car brands have resorted to producing luxury SUVs as a way to be financially sustainable. This includes Maserati, with the Levante SUV, which makes up almost 60% of the brand’s global sales. Soon, Maserati will add another luxury SUV to its lineup: the Maserati Grecale compact crossover SUV, which will offer both gas engines and an all-electric powertrain. Find out everything we know so far about the pricing, specs, and features of the upcoming 2023 Maserati Grecale.

The all-new Grecale SUV made its global debut in March of 2022. Maserati announced that the release date of the 2023 Maserati Grecale will be in Summer 2022. It will be available in the United States, as well as in select international markets. Once released, this new luxury SUV model will hit Maserati dealership lots across the U.S. The all-electric Maserati Grecale Folgore will be released a year later, as a 2024 model year vehicle.

How much does the 2023 Maserati Grecale cost?

The starting price of the 2023 Maserati Grecale is $64,995, which is for the GT trim. For the mid-tier Grecale Modena Limited Edition trim, the starting cost is $78,895. Maserati has not yet released the price information for the top-tier Grecale Trofeo trim or the all-electric Grecale Folgore. However, Car and Driver estimates a starting cost of $85,000 for Grecale Trofeo and a starting price range of $75,000-$95,000 for the Grecale Folgore.

The 2023 Maserati Grecale will offer three gas-powered engine options. Also, as mentioned earlier, the 2024 Grecale Folgore has an electric powertrain. All of the gas engine models feature an eight-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system.

The base powertrain in the Grecale GT trim combines a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine and a 48-volt hybrid system. It generates 296 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. The Grecale Modena Limited Edition trim has a high-output version of this powertrain (325 hp). For the pinnacle in gas-engine performance, the Grecale Trofeo features a turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine, which delivers 523 hp and 457 lb-ft of torque.

Maserati hasn’t yet stated how many electric motors the 2024 Grecale Folgore will have. However, like the gas engine models, the Grecale Folgore has an all-wheel drive system, which suggests that it will have two electric motors — one for the front wheels and another for the rear wheels. The Italian automaker didn’t release the horsepower figure for the Grecale Folgore, but it claims that it will produce up to 590 lb-ft of torque.

What’s the 0-60 mph acceleration time of the Maserati Grecale?

Maserati stated that the Grecale models equipped with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine have a 0-60 mph acceleration time in the low 5.0-second range. For the Grecale Trofeo, the automaker claims a 0-60 mph time of 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 177 mph. Maserati didn’t yet release the 0-60 mph time of the Grecale Folgore. However, you can expect the Grecale Folgore to be quicker than the gas-powered Grecale models and rival the acceleration time of other electric SUVs, such as the BMW iX and Tesla Model X and Model Y.

With the upcoming release of the 2024 Maserati Grecale, automotive shoppers have an enticing choice for the high-performance luxury SUV segment. The Grecale is more “affordable” compared to other models in the Maserati lineup. However, with a starting price of $64,995, the Grecale is still one of the most expensive vehicles in its class.
