If you’re interested in the 2023 Mazda CX-50, then you may be able to get behind the wheel in a few weeks. This new off-roading Mazda model has already entered production and will be available in spring 2022.
Jeff Guyton, Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) President and CEO, drove the first Mazda CX-50 off the line at the new Mazda plant in Huntsville, Alabama. Mazda Toyota Manufacturing (MTM) is a $2.3 billion joint venture partnership between Mazda and Toyota.
The CX-50 is unique as it’s produced in the United States and specifically designed for the North American Market. Jeff Guyton shared that it’s an exciting day for the MTM team and MNAO employees to celebrate the first CX-50 to roll off the Discovery Line at MTM.
He explained that the production of the CX-50 in Alabama represents the significance of the North American market to Mazda and its commitment to investing in the United States.
MTM officially began operating in September 2021 and will produce 300,000 vehicles annually. Toyota and Mazda will make up to 150,000 units. While the plant employs 4,000 people, several thousand more could be employed by suppliers.
How much does the 2023 CX-50 cost?

At first, this price may seem a little high, but the Mazda CX-50 is loaded with value. It comes standard with the latest i-Activ All-Wheel Drive technology and the new Mazda Intelligent Drive Select, Mi-Drive.
Mi-Drive provides new driving modes to enhance this SUVs’ control and ability to traverse in various conditions such as snow, mud, off-roading terrain, and more. It also enhances its towing capabilities.
The base engine is a 2.5-liter inline-four option with 187 hp and 186 lb-ft of torque. You can upgrade to the 2.5-liter turbo for up to 256 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque. Plus, the Mazda CX-50 may gain the 2.5-liter hybrid engine from the Toyota RAV4 with 219 hp.
Does the Mazda CX-50 have a nice interior?
Yes, the 2023 Mazda CX-50 will continue the Mazda tradition of providing luxury comfort and attractive styling with leather upholstery, soft-touched surfaces, contrast stitching, and a massive panoramic moonroof.
