The 2023 Nissan Frontier Is Finally Here
When Nissan finally released the 2022 Frontier, it finally brought its mid-size truck into the third generation. And now, the 2023 Nissan Frontier is available, allowing you to get a new Nissan pickup. You can still get a 2023 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X, and this truck still comes standard with a V6 engine. Meaning you do not have to pay extra for the power of six cylinders. So, what’s new for this mid-size truck?
What’s new for the 2023 Nissan Frontier?
Changes are pretty minimal for the 2023 Frontier, but they are there. The crew cab SV trim now has an optional package known as the Midnight Edition. It adds a variety of blacked-out features and accents, including 17-inch black wheels. These kinds of packages have become fairly popular among truck buyers, so it makes sense that Nissan has added one.
Other notable changes include the SV Convenience package becoming standard on the SV Crew Cab with the long bed. Because of that, you will get a heated steering wheel and heated front seats. Plus, it comes with a spray-in bed liner.
Is the 2023 Frontier better than a Toyota Tacoma?
The Nissan Frontier is currently newer than the Toyota Tacoma, which does help it in terms of competing. Nissan has taken the time to improve the interior quality, and this mid-size truck now comes with a standard V6 engine. Because of that, you will benefit from 310 horsepower and 281 pound-foot of torque. In comparison, the available V6 on the 2023 Toyota Tacoma makes just 278 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque.
Now, the new Tacoma can out tow the Frontier but only by 60 lbs. When properly equipped, the 2023 Frontier can tow up to 6,720 lbs. Both pickups offer an off-road package. The PRO-4X trim is still cheaper than the TRD Pro package. But, you can no longer get the Nissan Frontier equipped with a manual transmission. And that might be a bit of a disappointment to some.
How many miles will the 2023 Nissan Frontier last?
Because of its V6 engine, with proper maintenance, the Frontier should be able to achieve some high mileage. There’s no reason to suspect that this truck cannot achieve 200,000 miles if you take care of it. And that is a good thing, considering longevity is one of the perks of owning a pickup.
According to NHTSA, the new generation of Frontier does have an active recall. So that is something to consider before purchasing this mid-size truck. The recall is related to the transmission, which is also featured in the Nissan Titan.
Can you buy a new Frontier?
If you are interested in a new mid-size truck, the 2023 Nissan Frontier is certainly a solid option. And, the new Frontier is finally on sale for purchase by the general public. Now, the automotive industry is still in turmoil, especially with current supply chain issues.
It would not be surprising to see dealerships marking up the Frontier if demand is high enough. And it is possible to see Nissan close orders if the brand is unable to build enough trucks.
