It seems like the 2022 Frontier was just released, but rumors are already circulating about the 2023 model. Undoubtedly, Nissan will continue to build a 2023 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X. This vehicle boasts things like an electronic locking rear differential and comes standard with four-wheel drive.
Plus, it has rugged looks to match. And that is something that mid-size pickup owners seem to appreciate. In terms of cost, the 2022 Frontier PRO-4X has a starting MSRP of $38,120. The 2023 model will likely share a similar price. Especially considering the fact that the third generation of Frontier was just released.
Is the Nissan Frontier a good off-road truck?
With the PRO-4X trim, the Frontier is a legitimate 4×4 truck. It boasts Bilstein shocks as well as multiple skid plates to protect your pickup. And, because it comes standard with 4WD, you will be able to handle the road less traveled.
One of the more disappointing elements of the Nissan Frontier PRO-4X is that it lacks a factory lift. Typically an off-road version of a mid-size truck will feature some kind of lift kit. And the Frontier does not have that. Although, even without a lift, it does have pretty good ground clearance.
Will the 2023 Frontier have a manual transmission?
Unfo2023 Nissan rtunately, for 2022, Nissan dropped the option for a manual transmission. You can now only get the Frontier with its nine-speed automatic transmission. Most people do buy their trucks with automatic transmissions anyways, but considering there is an active recall against this gearbox, it would be nice to have a standard transmission.
Some Frontier rivals do still offer the option to allow you to shift your own gears. According to Car and Driver, the 2022 Toyota Tacoma and 2022 Jeep Gladiator can come equipped with a six-speed manual transmission. That might be what leads you away from buying a new Frontier if you are a part of the #SaveTheManuals mindset.
When is the 2023 Frontier coming out?
Nissan has not yet confirmed a release date for its mid-size truck. But, now that we are entering the fall season of 2022, it will likely come soon. Other manufacturers have already started releasing 2023 versions of vehicles.
Once the new Frontier is announced, it will probably be fairly similar to the outgoing model. All things considered, Nissan did just bring this pickup into its third generation.
